Highlands - Ryle series Renewed?
#1
I am told that yesterday during Coach Engeler's first official team meeting he expressed a want to renew the series with Highlands. He told the team they planned to be in contact with Highlands personnel this week to get a game on the books.
I was also told Highlands is looking for a week 0 game. (And we know SK won't schedule them) (sorry low blow.:biglmaoSmile

Highlands fans have you heard anything on your end?

This could be a very interesting dynamic as both programs will be fielding new Head Coaches. Good publicity.

I think it will be a good thing to have this game played again. Especially because all 4 classes at Ryle right now beat Highlands freshman and JV.

Hey SK won't schedule them because they are busy playing the defending 4A Champs that week. Confusednicker:

Touché but Highlands is still the King. 7 straight appearances earns you top spot in the state and easily NKY. Too be the best you have to play the best.

And I will eat my Crow. Collins was the best 4a team of 2013. Very impressive athletes of which I will be watching 4 at The Head.

Highlands certainly is the king of football in NKY, I was just having a little fun. Collins still has 10 more months to celebrate as state champs! :Cheerlead

I do think it would be nice to see Highlands and SK play though. I believe Simon Kenton would've given them a good game this year.

Hopefully it works out for Ryle and Highlands.

It would be great to see this matchup renew!

Well, with not a lot of talent with the underclassmen (HHS), why wouldn't Ryle want to renew the series? Let's not forget, just a few years ago, Ryle beat HHS.
#7
If this is the case, sounds like an opportune time for NCC to schedule Highlands as well.

Get to .500 before you poke SK.

Used to love watching this game.

We spent years above .500 playing Highlands and beat them. Engeler's offensive overhaul will put us back in the picture this year.

Looking forward to 3-reciever sets!

The Fort Thomas Bowl!.... pitting brothers and cousins against each other.
Should be played every year

Ryle should play Highlands. They can lose to them just like they can Scott Co., Shelby Co., and any other non district games they've scheduled and it will be a lot less travel.

:flame:

Ryle better learn how to score on SK's first string defense before they talk smack! SK beat Collins. SK would smash the little Birds! Bring it!
#14
Outstanding, the smack has begun. :hilarious:

Dixie wants to get back into the ring as well against Highlands. Should take place in '16 and '17, maybe as soon as '15 based on agreements.

Campbell Co. certainly learned from their game against Highlands. And it helped them beat Dixie as a result last year. It's always been about growth, making adjustments, and motivating players.

I know this a HHS, Ryle thread. I hate to say it, get your shots in now hop and ukfan, may be a long few years for you guys. Kuntz is a once in every 10 years player. Got Powell back, but that won't be nearly enough. I will call the score now, Collins 50, SK 0. You guys had a great team in 13, I was really pulling for you guys to win it all.

exactly!!!!!

Just hope for the players at Ryle that the Triple Crown Clowns stay out of the programs way. Big obstacle in Union. Best of luck. Is this D-Bag Preps? Start a thread about HHS and Ryle playing again and bash SK in the first thread? Classy
#18
Lol, who is bashing? The truth is the truth. You guys will be calling for marksberry's head, just like you were 2 seasons ago. Since this is a HHS thread and kuntz was so good, I believe this to be a fact. HHS would have blown the doors of Collins with kuntz at QB. Would have been something like 49-14 in 4A title game.
#19
Calling it how I see it. Bad Blood of 6a NKY will be more even this year and hyper competitive. All 5 teams will most likely finish with 2 district losses. This district rotates in talent in 3 year swings.

SK returns nothing compared to what they had last season. That was a special team of 3 year starters. They have pieces to build around but the experience and talent of last years group will not be present. Great run in 2013 I thought I'd never pull for an SK team and I was pulling for you to win it all but it's over. Good memories for your group that will hold on for a lifetime.

But, 2014 has begun.

Collins claims king of 4a for another 10 months. Highlands has claimed king of NKY for past 20+ years. To take there spot you have to play them. Call it d-bag preps but I've seen SK posters say for the past 5+ years that they could beat HHS with there best teams 08,10,13.

Plain and simple Play em.

Mueller would of played anyone so I doubt it was blocked from their end. We talked smack at Ryle but we still played them and we beat them. And I look forward to the future of this renewed matchup.

I believe the talent at Ryle right now is better than that of 2010. The upcoming sophmore and junior classes at Ryle are proven at lower levels and with a new coach I would expect that to transition to go smoother. This senior class also tied for the freshman title and will field multiple 2 and 3 year starters. We will see who the QB is in spring ball and from there we will see how this offense adjust. Last season was the worst in Ryle's history at 2-9 but next year I expect big changes.

Ryle vs Highlands

SK has another, maybe better, QB coming. They'll be fine.

LOL, looks like the thread starter if I stated the 1st post....
You have me confused about calling for Marksberry's head. If, If, If....... Any facts besides coulda, shoulda, woulda? Question you could answer is what would have happened if Kuntz went to HHS? Would he have recieved more scholly offers?

Ryle vs Highlands

Huge changes.....4-7 with a 500 yard passer....Hell go 4 wide.

Wouldn't of mattered Houliston was a good QB. But Highlands would of used Kuntz in a different role that probably would of hurt his college recruitment. Houliston threw for a billion yards and still didn't get a big look. Kuntz best fit was SK and I am happy to see him make it to a FBS school because his talent belongs there. Western easily has a steal in Kuntz.

As for Ryle with the amount of talented athletes they have. I said 6 years ago in 08/09 that they should have been running 3 wide sets. The problem coaches have been eliminated or forced out since 2011. I tried to stay positive before last season but a lot of us in the Raider community figured it was coming. They now have a good head coach that is a QB specialist a good defensive staff with Woolf at the helm. A good reciever coach has been desperately needed. Warner coaching that postion last year was a joke. I am told they hit the sled more than the O-line and practiced little to no route running.
#24
Nah, I'm sorry to say, houliston would not have been at QB if kuntz was there. But your right, these are all "ifs".

I don't know if I agree with more talent now than that 2010 team. I think, you blame that on coaching that Ryle didn't win state in 2010. That 2010 team was loaded.

As good as SK was last season, I still think HHS would have beat them.

No way in hell SK has a QB coming up that will be as good as kuntz was. No way. I'm telling you right now, outside of barker and sindlear from Caldwell, kuntz would have been the starting QB for any team in the state.
#25
I thought the QB from Collins was awfully impressive in the State Title game. He did things against Highlands that you normally don't see.
#26
Yes he was. But if I'm remembering right, he was an awful big kid, he may have been a rb or another te if kuntz was there. Of course, this all just "ifs" lol.

Coaching was the reason they lost to Trinity. The Rocks came in and played stop the run D all night because they knew the Raiders hadn't passed enough to rely on there passing offense to win a big game. They effectively shut down the rushing of Elliott, Mullens and Hempel. This forced Hempel to throw more than run. Warner's offense failed in this game. It was still a close and good game.

Not to take anything away from Hempel becuase he could chuck the rock. But there is 10 other players that weren't familiar with throwing the ball 20+ times a game.

And it's athletic potential not just talent. That group in 2010 was special and was the best group to go they Ryle to this point but these upcoming sophmore and junior groups remind me of 2010

Really? Did not know he was such a good defensive player; the D is what got HHS beat, not the O! If you watched any of HHS season you know the O did great, and the D really struggled. How Does Kuntz make the score 49-14?

Racke will be better than Kuntz when all is said and done.

Just a thought... Since Lex Cath has a couple of weeks without an opponent and I'm sure Ryle is also looking to fill in their 2014 schedule. Why not play each other? :Cheerlead
