That's alright. Whitley has a lot to look forward to in the future if dudley Helton steps aboard. Shouldn't be very many if any loosing seasons in the future

What has happened to Colonels D?
10-12-2013, 07:43 AM
I went to this game and Whitley was slow, but also there was bad play calling by Whitley if Whitley would pass a little bit more and quite running the option they be fine, They were playing against there strong suite passing and running North and South. I didnt see this big of Blow out coming 45-15 at Halftime. If Perry keeps the O going and play some D they may have a chance at Runners up in the District and a Home Game in the Playoffs and maybe a District Title. Great Coaching by Haddix at Perry hes not had a loseing season since he come here.

Perry should beat Letcher to finish second in the district but Harlan is another story.

Saw the score on this one and was shocked!! Really thought it would be a close game. Pcc has gotten better from the time I saw them play Corbin till now. Whitley is just a whole nother story all together. Just when you thought they where getting better then the wheels fall off again.
Congrats to PCC on the win!!

They won 4 games last year, that's a losing season.

The bottom line is, Haddix can flat out coach. Haddix doesn't have the talent other large schools have, due to the lack of interest in football at PCC, but he always puts a competitive team on the field, and wins his fair share of games. PCC better be glad they have Haddix, because if not the football program would be in very bad shape.

Whitley is staring at 0-11.

The problem at whitley is not that bad . I don't care if they hire Dudley Hilton or Vince Lombardi Whitley will never win consistley until they get more football players out. That means the must first clean up the feeder program. (MIDDLE SCHOOL) That alone won't really help. I believe that Whitley County is the only 5A school in the state with only 1 middle school if any one out there knows of another please quote. I believe that problem could be solved very simply by having 2 maybe 3 middle school teams in the same school and play every team that you can play. And don't load up on one team just to beat other teams or win the state play offs this would destroy your sole purpose, after all you should do this in order to build a foundation for the future, I know that I personally have seen as high as 75 or 80 boys in middle school out for football and 3 weeks later they are tired of setting on their helmets and watching the better players go after each other next thing you know WC middle school has 25 players and they never see the ones that quit again. I have said my peace WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT GUT THE GUTTER.

Will be a lot of football in Whitley.county this year.Come on over an support Williamsburg team y'all are. :welcome:

This talk of running up the score not accurate. It was 46-15 at half. Whitley fumbled opening possession of 2nd half PCC ran it back to inside 20 and their first team scored. 53-15 clock running now and PCC subbed in a lot on d and Whitley scored 53-22 Whitley kicked onside kick which PCC kid ran back for td. Whitley turned it over on downs and the young guys for PCC scored the final TD. So PCC 1 team only play 1 series on O and 1 on D

Well,I'll be man enough to say I missed this one bad.Hats off to Perry. They are playing well and I should have known better.Coaching staff at PCC does a nice job year in and year out.Congrats!

Shelby County is 5A and they only have one feeder middle school (Shelby East).

sorry for the miss understanding on 4 wins but this team has gotten better, and Haddix is doing a great job at a Basketball school, He has some very good 8th graders coming up and a good junior program also so the future looks good at Perry.

Score was runned up. Starting players where still in the jerking game when they needed to be on the side line eating popcorn. This game was well in hand and no starters should of been in..

Platooning in middle school would also keep a bunch of kids playing in each grade. Platoon freshmen and JV also. It is a lot more fun playing than getting beat up in practice and sitting on your helmet for games.

I know every Tuesday night Whitley has about 300 kids playing 3rd-6th grade football. So they have plenty of kids entering their feeder system, but where do they all go? I have never understood why they do not have aroung 80 players a year.

First bold: Ive said that one million times on this site. Its the biggest problem. If i was a new coach, on my first day id ask the principal to hold an assembly and ask every boy in the school to come out and play. No pressure, and you wont get beat up on, hell, maybe even just train you to see if your comfortable or cut out for it.
Second Bold: See footballfevers post. It has nothing to do with whats going on. Several 5A schools have one middle school. Whitleys middle school program over the past 20 years would probably be one of the winningest in the state if we had access to the records. I remember Fox going several years bring undfeated in both 7th and 8th grade and a whole lot of 1 loss seasons.
Third Bold: I think your funny.

I have no problem with running the option, to be honest, its my favorite type of offense. However, Whitley has strayed away from there original option look they had 5 or 6 years ago when they were successful. Mostly due to not have a QB back there you can trust to make reads.

You pretty much explained it.
I remember going through Whitleys feeder program.
On our 3-4th and 5-6th grade teams, we had around 40 or 50 kids.
One our 7th grade team, we had around 60 kids. On the 8th grade team we had around 50 kids. By freshmen year, we had dropped to about 25 or 30. And lost all the way down to 16 by my senior year.
Its the transition from 8th grade to freshmen football that kills Whitley.
To be perfectly honest, i think over the years, a lot of kids that played in 8th grade were to scared to make the jump to high school. Most of them dont know that frosh are kept away from all varsity at Whitley and even have there own seperate locker room. Such a shame to see the numbers drop in high school. You have to have a coach that can really get the kids out. Even if you have a coach that cant coach a lick, if you have 80 kids playing, then i promise youll do better than 0-11.

Perry scored a TD every time they touched the ball.
Nathan Pray has really grown as a QB this year.

First, gutter, if you and people in WC think that wins and loses in middle school Deternine success in high school you are dead wrong it is quality coaching and number of players you retain. I don't care if you loose every game it is the number of players plus the fun and enjoyment you have that equals success period..... But you have to have a good coach with good administrative abilities in HS to complete the deal. I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE NUMBER OF 5A WHO HAVE ONLY 1 MIDDLE SCHOOL THANKS FOR THE CORRECTION.

1 TD by first team early in third qtr after a Whitley fumble. 1 TD on a Whitley on side kick and last was a kid that hadn't touched the ball in a month on Friday night. Were they supposed to quit at the end of first or what.

So your saying, with the same coaches, if Whitley had 80 players this year, they wouldnt be any better than 0-11?
You really are naive.
