Hazard travels to Hazard this week to take on the Fairview Eagles, who are riding a 24 game reg season win streak. Both teams have put up huge numbers the last few weeks, but also gave up big numbers. Hazard has showed they can come back at any given time, while Fairview has showed how important winnig the 1st and 4th quarters can be, two features of championship caliber teams. Does the streak end with Hazard? Is this a flashback to last years regional semi's, a fast foward into this years playoffs? Call it what you will, two of the top 10 Single A clubs will battle it out in Westwood. Who comes out on top? I will make my assessment later on.

I've seen both teams play. Hazard against Pikeville and Fairview in person against my Dawgs. The thing about Fairview is that they have athlete's all over the place and speed to burn. I think Fairview may have more speed then any team in eastern Kentucky. Fairview has the same problem they had last year in the fact that they have no pass game and Lawrence hurt the Fairview defense in the air a few times also. Hazard has the most balance on offense and a receiver and running back that Fairview will have no answer for.
I like Hazard in this one. 31-27

I too like Hazard by a bigger margin. I would say 35-24. By the way when they are in the wing tee, you can beat them with 3 strong and fast players. Your def ends stay home to stop the sweeps. Your nose should be very quick and shooy the gaps. You kill all of that misdirection stuff before it starts.

I would like to say defense will make the difference. Cant gove the edge to eother team though. Both teams gave uo atleast 50 points to top 10 single A teams. Hard to compare games scores in high school football. Last year I said Hazard would win the playoff matchup by 2 scores. Boy was I wrong. This year, i think Hazard is much more atheletic and Jones and that big tall WR are the difference makers. If the young freshman qb keeps his composure, Hazard should be able to take advantage of an inexperienced secondary and LB core.
Last year, the game was won upfront, this year will be no different. Hazard is tougher at the skill positions but Fairview has the edge upfront. The difference lies with speed on the line rather than speed or strength. I am going with the home team on this one. Eagles get a lead late and come up with a defensive stop late.

Hazard by 10. A solid well coached team they will stack the box. U cannot underestimate coaching in this matchup. Unless Fairview finds that passing attack!

Hazard is well coached but have struggled on D this year. Fairview is loaded with athletes. Reminds me of last years playoff match up.

Kudos to Hazard on their non district schedule. They will be well tested come play off time. Pikeville, Somerset, Fairview. Breathitt County, Prestonsburg, and 5A LCC. Breathitt and Prestonsburg are down but that wasn't by design.

The Over/Under on this game is set at 100.

Fairview pretty much Manhandled Hazard on the line of scrimmage in the playoffs last year. I look for more of the same.

Like to see Hazard get revenge in this game but if they don't there not going to hang there heads because this is a regular season game and it just counts just as a win or loss and doesn't count in the playoffs.
Fairview will have to throw a little bit in this game to keep hazards defense honest. Hazard defense is getting better and playing some of these better teams will test your defense and prepare you for when it counts the most.

I look for the dawgs to stack the box on D and let Hudson and Jones loose on O. I got Hazard, but not by as much as people think.

I got to see the Fairview offensive line up close and in person a few weeks ago and they are huge and talented. Probably the biggest O line I've seen on a 1a team. They have a lot of speed on both sides of the ball and have a few new fast talented players that they didn't have last year. A lot of those fast players on the defense are head hunters and look for that big hit all night. They threw about 4 or 5 times in the game and one was an interception and the other 3 or 4 were just plain ugly and close to an interception. I think if Hazard can get the pass going to set up the run with that kid that likes to run over people then they can win this thing but if they can't and Fairview scores a few quick TD'S then this thing could be over quick because they can't stop this Fairview O line and stable of fast talented backs from scoring. People said all year that Fairview would be way down because they lost all that talent in the backfield, but guess what, they got a lot of talent in that backfield yet again and one of those players is the brother of Elijah who is just as fast IMO.

double g, I like how you guys do this. Yall play the role of the lowly old team that just don't have a chance. But, you and I know what will happen here. The same thing yall did with us in 2011. You just lull them to sleep and the whole time yall have been chomping at the bit to get ahold of them. You are probably in charge of printing the Beat Fairview shirts that everyone of your fans will wear there. Yall probably have had the kids looking at the scoreboard with the score from last years game all season long as well. As far as the biggest line in 1a, I don't know about that. I watch a pretty darn big line every week now. I think they are every bit as big or maybe bigger than that one we faced last year at BG.

If this game is at Hazard, with the help of the 'excellent' timekeepers, Hazard will get the victory.

Lol if its not the refs it's the way the clock is ran. What will it be next? We did not cut the turf in hope to slow other teams down. Your team scored and it was not added to the score board, the hazard fans cheered and it hurt my baby boys ears

I heard but cant confirm this , but was told Fairview lost 2 key starters for the yr . 1 with injury during practice , & one because family moved . I also heard a 3rd very key starter may be leaving the team due to getting into trouble at home . Again i cant confirm any of this . I was told this by a not so reliable source so take it for what it is
