I said Bellevue could surprise.

I didn't think basketball season started until November lol. Sounds like neither defense showed up for this one.

How many times Fairview throw the ball.

Congrats to Fairview on the win. Looks like defense is a thing of the past.
09-13-2013, 11:21 PM
Shocked at the volume of scores in this game. Defense anyone?
09-13-2013, 11:22 PM
Was this a basketball score

No defense obviously. That is a good question. How was the new found Fairview air attack?
09-13-2013, 11:36 PM
Not much talk on the Fairview threads this year. LITERALLY. No trash talk no game talk. Silence...letting there play talk? Clint Westwood has disapeared...Talon still talkin and giving insight. Who knows nething about Fview?

From what we have seen here, you will be able to tell all you need to know about the Eagles by 2 games. The first will be Beechwood and Bellevue. The other will be Raceland and Fairview of course. Raceland wins that district this year.

Wow! Same score as Pikeville and Hazard in PCB. Congrats Fairview.

Honestly Fairview only threw the ball maybe 10 times for about 75-100 yrds ( guessing) . I dont know what has happend with the pre-season talk of more passing from Big Nate , but he hasnt shown it much , & quite frankly he hasnt had to . Our running was good last week , & just great tonight . I give props to Bellevue very well coached team who plays very hard until the last buzzer . They are very underrated , & has a great passing game . If i had to guess i would say they attempted somewhere between 50-60 passes tonight . We need to shore up our pass defense , but McPeek did make some adjustments at half-time the showed as we played alot better passing D in the 2nd half

Undoubtedly a defensive struggle.

Bellevue scored 22 points in the 3rd quarter, when did the halftime adjustments kick in? Just curious and just giving you a hard time.

Sounds like the shootout at the OK Corral.

Part of the fun is the giving of a hard time . Now our D did play alot better in the 2nd half . Of the 22 points they scored 2 of those TDs was because of our offensive meltdowns , not because of poor defense

This is the second time in two years that Bellevue has shown up and almost stunned the 1a world. Now that leaves two very interesting games that will tell us a lot about the east. The first is the Beechwood/Bellevue game. The second is the Raceland/Fairview game. At this point in the season I would have to say that Raceland and Pikeville are the favorites in the east. Hazard is the dark horse, because of coaching and tradition.

Can't wait for the Raceland game, should be a classic.

Raceland is 2 touchdowns better than the Eagles now. Isnt that one at Raceland this year? If so that makes them 17 points better.

I hope you are right about Raceland being better. I believe the game is in Raceland.

It's clear to me now. They have defense and they have been more tested this year than has Fairview.

How has Raceland been more tested? They played the same East Cater team as Fairview , & they played an Ashland team that is down . Fairview has played Lawerence Co , & Bellevue & both of those teams coud easily beat Raceland's other 2 opponets in extremely week , down Boyd Co , & Greenup Co. In fact Lawerence put up over 50 points on Boyd Co in a running clock game

Imo in high school ball it is hard to compare scores on like opponents to compare two squads. Matchups are key, as well as how well one team defends the pass or run, what kind of offense a team runs, etc. Ashland is down this year, BUT are much better than many gave credit coming in. With that said, its hard to back up that kind of a statement when thy could only put up 7 on a way down Russell team. You can throw the comparison of like opponents scores out the window. Comparing Raceland to Fairview, I see this.
Fairview is more explosive and plays with more of a grit on offense than Raceland does. Fairview is a little bigger upfront, but not by much. They score in bunches, but are subject to giving up alot of points as well.
Offensivley Raceland can play a bit sluggish and sloppy at times. Int's and fumble have plagued this Jr/Sr class in big games since they were frosh. That is something though, that they have gotten better with. Defensively, Raceland is alot faster upfront and more experienced as a whole. They are subject to giving up a big play here and there though due to their over all aggresiveness.
In this series, playing at home USED to mean alot. Since McPeak took the helm though, venue hasnt mattered much. But playing at home, should give Raceland another td. Raceland's oline and dline is the difference maker though. Raceland is stronger defensively and more balanced on offense. Fairview is more explosive though, offensively. All of this factored in together leads me to this conclusion....
Raceland on paper is probably 2 or 3 tds better than Fairview. On a football field however...who knows. I still gove Fairview the edge due to their seeming a bit tougher offensively than Raceland. If the game could be one on defense alone, Raceland names the score. But that is not the case...got a few weeks for this chatter ro build up.

Here is exactly how I get that they are more tested. Fairview has played 2 teams in 3a and 1 team in 1a. Raceland has played 3 teams in 4a and 1 in 3a. They are playing over their head more. During this run the did have 1 really good game that they lost late by 1 point. That builds character and will strengthen them more than you know. During this run Fairview has averaged scores of 41-28 per game. That means they are giving up 4 touchdowns per game on defense. Raceland has averaged scores of 44-18. That means they are giving up 3 scores or less. Then you add in the fact that they have played a common opponent. Fairview outscored that opponent by 21. Raceland outscored that same opponent by 26. Before you start to say anything about an 0-2 or 3a or 0-4 4a, keep this in mind. An 0-4 4a team playing their schedule would most likely be as good or better than a 1-3 1a team. That is not always the case but in most instances it is. Not to mention the Rams have played one extra game, so yes they have been more tested.

Mysonis55 i respectfully disagree . Not saying Raceland shouldnt be favored , but i disagree with your reasoning . These teams Raceland has played are extremely week teams . Just because Boyd , & Greenup are 4a dont make them a tougher opponent . Remember i'm from this area ive seen these teams play multiple times . No disrespect to Phelps but in all.seriousness Phelps could make a good game of Greenup , or Boyd . Obviously you have no clue as to how weak those 2 teams are . Ashland on the other hand is not terrible but is waaaayyyy down , & very very young . I would say you had an argument with Boyd , & Greenup if they were mediocre but they are not even close to that good
09-15-2013, 11:57 AM
Okay, I can accept that. I guess we will see shortly. It don't really matter what you or I think. This will be decided on Raceland's field.
09-15-2013, 12:37 PM
Imo neither Raceland nor Fairview have come out the gate screaming like many of us had anticipated. Raceland should have defeated Ashland by 2 or 3 scores. East Carter has proven to be a descent on the def side of the ball. Fairview nor Raceland have been as dominant as they anticipated. But both are teams that can score at any given time. Raceland's defense will be the difference maker.
