It's interesting that you put PC above JC, i've known PC will be good this year, and if they play like i think they can, come the end of the season they will be a tough out...

Pulaski's is looking GOOD to me!! I think Johnson central gets beat up a couple times looking at the schedule. They are close I just think Pulaski fininshes with a better record and goes a little deeper in the playoffs.
09-03-2013, 10:02 PM
Can't see keeping Somerset up there. I think they go 5-5 or 6-4. They may get beat this week by SW, they gave KC all they wanted at the Pig Skin.
09-03-2013, 10:04 PM
Lets wait till week 4 and see who all is left on these list.
09-03-2013, 10:09 PM
I can see your point on Somerset. But, how can you say they are not in top ten when they were beat by what I see as #2 and #4 . Tough schedule. I am sure it will all shake out later. We will have a sleeper jump up and someone drop out. This is just how I see it now.
09-03-2013, 10:29 PM
I think the Hounds are going to give Wayne and Bell all they want. I don't see Somerset getting it together this year. Somerset got hammered by two good teams not just beat. I was there for the Pulaski game and it was never close.

Everybody said they were #1 until a Mt team beat them...well a Mt team beat them and they fell off of the planet, or so it would seem.

Corbin HATERS! I saw SW play KC in the pigskin did u? SW lead the whole game and KC was lucky to win that game in OT. SW put up 28 on KC and 0 on Corbin are you saying KC can't beat Wayne either. Don't judge Wayne by the hype or them beating a team that has lost about every game for 4-5 years. Corbin's D is the real deal. It's a much better team then Wayne squeaked by last year. That's my thoughts everybody is entitled to there own opinion. Man I can't wait for Wayne!!!!!

I guess you have to put Madison Southern in there this year? We do and have played in a Mountain conference for sometime now.
09-04-2013, 11:35 AM
Hard to do that. Just don't see Richmond, sorry really do not know what community MS is located in, being a part of the mountains. I think Rock, Somerset and Pulaski and even Wayne Co. is a stretch. WYMT started covering them to get them in the so called mountain teams. Really subjective, who knows?
09-04-2013, 11:40 AM
Wayne County is not considered a Moutain Team not covered by WYMT but believe me come district time everyone will be ready no matter who they play who they beat or who they loose to...

You must have not been watching the same game I was. Sw scored first KC tied it on the kickoff. Sw scored again 14-7 Knox tied it again. Then Knox goes up 21-14 sw tied it. Knox goes up 28-21 sw ties it with less than 4 min to go. So don't say sw lead the whole game cause they didn't. Yes Knox was lucky to get out of there with a win, but they did.
On a side note how many yards did Corbin top rusher have against sw? Gist had 204 for Knox.
Corbin is good don't get me wrong. But they will have their hands full with Wayne co. Bell Corbin will have no trouble at all.

I do think they are a lot of haters out there for Corbin. That district will finish as follows IMO,
Wayne Co.
Corbin
Bell
Corbin is much , much better this year.

We are actually in BEREA...we want NO PART of Richmond ah Thank you...LOL. No I understand, but other than a couple of years in the late 90's when Southern was in a district with Woodford, Montgomery etc...Southern has always been in the "mountain" districts". We have been in districts with Bell, Knox, Wayne, Somerset, Rockcastle, the Pulaski's, but I agree we are not a "mountain" team but we always have played them in to some extent since the early 90's.

I'm not degrading Wayne County in the least but it's ludicrous to act like they are so much better than Corbin. Last season the Cardinals won 26-23 against a young Corbin team that had their confidence shaken after losing 3 of the previous 4 games by 7 points each.
I know that both teams have improved but as of right now, I would give the Redhounds the slight edge in this years battle despite the game being in Monticello.
I really don't want to rank teams that I'm unfamiliar with but I would rank the 4 teams closest related to Corbin as..
1. Corbin
2. Wayne
3. Knox Central
4. Bell County

This is the most realistic top ten I have seen. I would say that you could list about 6 teams in that 10 spot though. Everything will sort itself out in the next 2-3 weeks.

I think Harold hit the nail in the head! Corbin has cam a long way since last year. I had wondered if we would be able to compete in 3a after last year. From what I've seen they are going to be tuff. I don't expect them to dominate but we will compete. I'm sure KC, Bell, and Wayne are going to play us tuff. I would love to come off log mnt with a win. I think we will see what belfry has at Harlan co this week. That is definitely the game of the week. Good luck to all the moutain teams this year and go big red!!

With all due respect I am not sure that outside of Central, and their tremendously talented run defense, that any 3A team could stay within 2 TD's of HC.

If I'm not mistaken when Corbin played Wayne last year. Wayne was without their Qb. That makes a whole world of differance to.

He played the entire game against Corbin, and played well. Wayne Co. should be favored over Corbin and Bell Co. this year in my opinion.
It was the Bell Co. game that he missed part of last year. I believe he came in when they were down something like 14-0 to Bell.
