WKYT is reporting that Coach Michael Goodwin from Lincoln Co. was in a motorcylce accident today around 11:00 AM, please remember him and his family and the Patriots football team who play Bourbon Co. tonight at Boyle County.

Those young men are much stronger than I am. God give them the strength to represent you on the field tonight with heads held high amd Christ-like character. May Lincoln County look to the Lord for their strength and refuge and may the family find "Joy in the morning" whenever their morning comes.

I didn't see it updated so to share further Coach Goodwin did indeed lose his life in that accident. God bless his family and the entire Patriot family.

Thank you for letting us know the status 64black&gold. I am so sorry to the family and football family!! We lost a beloved member of our football family this year, too. I hope everyone can pull together and offer support to the coach's loved ones!

Initially i'm told there were going to cancel the game because he passed away early in the day and would be plenty of time to let other team (Bourbon) know but that the players asked that they be allowed to play in his honor and that he wouldn't want the game cancelled. It's refreshing that in a world of athletes who cannot stay out of jail and are not satisfied with multi-million dollar contracts that a group of teenagers can focus not on themselves but on things bigger than life and try to honor a friend. My utmost respect goes to Coach Settles and the football team of Lincoln County.

Sometimes The Lord reaches down and reminds us of what is the most important things we have. I'm sure this will be a tough one for his family, his team, his school and community to deal with. Just remember God has a plan for us all and when it's time he will show us the plan, but I'm sure coach had fulfilled his intended plan here and his kids, all of them are testimony to that. Good luck and God bless each of you. I hope the whole community wraps their arms around his boys and uplifts them in some wonderful way as they deal with their feelings of loss.
