It's going to be a long, long night in Putnam Stadium for the Tomcat faithful.

Here that guys?? LETS GO BELFRY :redboxer:

Well, lets look at the obvious:
1. It is at Putnam Stadium...nuff said!
2. Belfry looked great on D, but needs some more work on the offense this week!
3. I was very impressed with our 1st game showing. A few bad snaps and costly fumbles, but that will improve.
4. Ashland is coming off of their first loss and will be determined to correct their record.
5. This Belfry team is determined to get back to the carpet this year. These kids got a taste of it their freshman and sophomore years and want it bad.
All in all...I say Belfry by 2 td's

This could get ugly but I dont think the Ashland Faithful will let they're boys let that happen. Ashland keeps it close but I think a turnover will score a late TD for the Pirates and they should win !

I pick Belfry by a toucdown or two, but this game is being played at Putnam, and I have seen some weird stuff happen inside that stadium. Great place to play football.

The Tomcats are tough in Putnam but there seems to be some problems within the tomcats program. Belfry should win this one in a low scoring game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Darrell Mahan get a lot more time at QB in the game this week while moving Drew McDavid out to receiver, especially with the injury to Luke Bonner last night. To be honest, during pre-season scrimmages, Mahan had looked better running the first team offense than Drew, and I was surprised Mahan wasn't the #1 QB last night. The student section even had a sign going across the front of them saying "Put in Mahan."
BTW, the call by me, the student section, or anyone you hear about wanting Mahan to play QB over McDavid is in no way a knock on McDavid. McDavid is a great player and great athlete, but his natural position is WR and that's where it seems he is more needed on this team to kickstart this offense.

Whatever Belfry's score, it will be in multiples of 7 + multiples of 3. Hoss won't miss a kick all season. He regularly splits the uprights perfectly both in practice and in all the games this season. 2 years from now he'll be kicking for a college team. I wouldn't be at all surprised for Hoss to go to the NFL as a kicker and to see him break the longest FG record.
That being said, I think it will be another low scorer.

There will be some changes to the offense this week for sure. I believe there could be a soph to see some snaps in practice this week. The defense is locked with a good showing from Friday night. I will say another close game.

Well seems like Belfry has allready won this game according to every one on here so I guess they should just save some gas money and stay at home and get ready to come to Louisa next week because we are not as easy to just give them a win .
My advice is the pirates better come ready to play because I just can't see Ashland handing them a win . Belfry might win this one but I bet they will have to play some ball to get this win . Good luck to both teams :howdy:

nah do not save ur gas money i would love to sit at ptunam becuase its a historic stadium and the fans there depedning on age. But hopefully hart can spark a fire which he is known to do but something tells me that ashland in the first time under hart might go 0-2.

Andrew Elkins? I don't think Coach Haywood will pull the trigger that quick on Preston, he'll be fine.

Belfry knows Ashland wont be handing them a win!!I was mainly talking about the Ashland fans here . I would exspect you all to be confident in your team I just can't believe how quick the Ashland people are loseing faith in thier team Just a few weeks ago when Ashland came here in the passing league Coach Hart was telling Goldsmith that this just might be the best team he has had sence he's been at ashland from top to bottom . Come on Tomcats get behind your coach and just believe in the program you all are the top cats untill somebody takes it away from you . I don't know why I said that I really don't even like them . But I do respect them :notworthy

After seeing our game against raceland, I can tell we have a lot of things we need to get corrected, but I think we'll have a much better showing this week. I know that this is a very powerful Belfry team and it will take a huge effort to pull out a win, but I feel that coach Hart will do a much better job of getting the team prepared this week. That being said, I still think that it will take a few weeks to straighten this team out, but the game is being played at Putnam, and strange things are known to happen there. I'll pick my Tomcats in this one.
