Fort Campbell Falcons Preview 2013
#1
The question for the Falcons this year is can they make it back to the promise land. The question may be answered by most of their offense from the 2012 season returning for another run. The Falcons finished 2012 with a mark of 9-3 and were ranked #2 in rushing and scoring in 3a in 2012. The Falcons averaged 44.6 points per game in 2012.

The Falcons do look light for a 3a team in the area of overall players on the roster. In checking their roster on KHSAA it would appear they only have 42 players out for the 2013 season.

The schedule for the Falcons should prepare them for the playoffs, as long as they can avoid any serious injuries. They only have 2 teams on their schedule with real disappointing records for 2012. Those teams are a district foe and a team that has to be played to satisfy the enlisted personnel of both Fort Campbell and Fort Knox.

The Falcons start the season with the defending 1a state champs, the Mayfield Cardinals. The Cards finished 2012 with a mark of 14-1. They should be considered the preseason #1 team in 1a. They then face what should be considered a top 5 1a team, of Russellville. The Panthers finished 2012 with a mark of 8-4. Next up is the armed forces bowl of Ky in Fort Knox. Knox finished the 2012 season with a disappointing record of 1-9. The Falcons then jump back up in competition when facing the Christian Co Colonels. The Colonels are in 5a and finished 2012 with a mark of 9-3. Next up is the defending 2a state runners up. That's right, the Caldwell Co Tigers. The Tigers finished 2012 with a mark of 11-3. They then face what is being billed as the new West Ky 6a powerhouse of McCracken Co. The Mustangs did not have a record in 2012 as they were 3 separate schools last season. Now begins district play with the game of their season against the Paducah Tilghman Tornado, with the winner claiming a district crown. The Tornado are looking for some revenge after finishing 2012 with a mark of 8-4 and being 2nd in the district to the Falcons. Next up is Webster Co, also a district foe. Webster finished 2012 with a disappointing mark of 1-9. The last district game of the year is against Trigg Co. The Wildcats finished 2012 with a mark of 5-6. They finish the regular season with an out of state team. I have found a little trouble in trying to get info on this team of Loretto, Tn. From what I could find on Maxpreps, it would appear they are a 1a team and finished 2012 with a mark of 5-2.

Players to watch for:

Jaylen Williams/ QB Jaylen was the leader of the team from this position in
2012. He finished the regular season with 773 yds
passing. He scored 4 td's through the air with only 4
int's.

Tristan Luke/ RB Luke finished the regular season with 1816 yds and
28 touchdowns. This made him the scoring leader for 3a

Isaiah Washington/RB Washington rushed for 414 yds and 6 touchdowns in
2012

Marquez Rolinger/ WR This kid hauled in passes for 422 yds and 1
touchdown in 2012

With all this being said, this is my pick to win the district this year and make a run deep into the playoffs. This will depend on whether the PT coaching staff can finally instill some discipline in their team, which would make the difference with all the talent they have on the roster.
