Estill County improves to 23-15 (13-0 Region) and will face Boyle County next Thursday at 7 PM in the first round of the state tourney.

Jenkins ends the season at 30-8 (15-2 region)




Estill County now has (dating back to 2005) 9 straight District Championships (8 straight here in the 56th district) and 7 region titles (6 here in the 14th since 2006...2005 they were in the 10th region)....Estill didn't win the title in '10 nor '11

Since coming to the 14th region/56th district back in 2006, Estill County is 95-3 against region opponents and 65-1 against district opponents.

And to be honest, I will be very very surprised if Estill doesn't repeat again next year with the team they will have returning.

Congrats to Estill. You can tell coach Beard works hard with these girls. They can hold their composure like no other team in the 14th and that is one of their strengths . I Went down and watched this game both teams are good at what they do but Jenkins youth showed through tonight. The pitcher just couldnt seem to pull them out of the dirt tonight along with the poor hitting by the rest of the team. With some hard work Jenkins could dominate the 14th. Their SS has an arm on her like a cannon, the 2nd baseman is just a fr. who can turn on a dime to make a play. Catcher runs down baseline like she is suppose to and will catch any foul tipped ball that doesn't hit fence or go out. Pitcher is good and will be unstoppable by the time she gets to be a senior. You can see that these girls work hard and it will pay off

Great stats strike I had them a little different but close to the same . The lady Cavs had some runners on but just couldn't get them across. It was closer than I thought it would be I thought Estill would break it open any time thru out the game but it stayed close it was a real good championship have to give it to both teams .

^ It was. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Estill and Jenkins meet again in the region championship game again next year. Estill returns just about the heart of their team and will be loaded with speed. Return both pitchers (Gross & Edwards) return their heavy hitter (Rawlins). I think all together they lose like 3 or 4. Next year will be Estill's best chance to make noise at the state tournament. One of the parents is trying to get Coach Beard to get a harder schedule than this year, don't know if she will or not but I do they are trying to get her too.

I'm pretty sure May 7 & 15 will be against Wolfe County. That's about how it's been past few years.

I think we played a pretty tough schedule this year.Looking back I think this is the toughest schedule we have played in a while.I also think Rawlins and Gross are two of the best in 14 region.Rawlins with her hitting consistantly and I think Gross holds her composure and control as good as any one in the 14th.
