Smoking Ban Begins Tuesday in Morehead
#1
A city wide smoking ban goes into effect today for people in Morehead. The ban will prohibit smoking in public places.

Today, the sight of folks lighting up will be a thing of the past in Morehead restraunts. Some smokers aren't overly thrilled about the new law, but say they'll adjust, and so will the restraunts.

Mendy Young is a server at the Front Porch Restraunt in Morehead, a popular hangout for those looking for good food and a place to light up. She says that, ironically, the smoking ban could actually help the Front Porch, due to the outside eating and smoking area the business already has in place.

Morehead will join Lexington and Georgetown as cities with city wide smoking bans. Frankfort will join the ranks in mid-August.

This seems to be a hot topic with the government right now. I personally hope that they ban smoking in public places worldwide. I am tired of going to grab a bite to eat and having to increase my chances of cancer everytime I walk in the door. Like the commerical says, an hour or so sitting near someone who is smoking is like smoking around 2 cigarettes.

A guy I know drives a truck (a smoker) and he said in places they have it banned that he can set in his truck or stand on the steps going to the cab and smoke but not on the ground.
