Rumors flying around about the opening at Whitley County High School. The Lady Colonels were hurt by injuries this season but still managed to get the semi-finals of the region. The talent level will be good for the new coach, but you have to wonder how fast the administration will move to fill the opening.
Now that Larry Anderson has stepped down, who will be the new coach for the Lady Colonels.

They are guarding this answer like it's the SECRET of the Century! Totally Stupid! Must be going to make alot of parents and players mad when it is finally announced. All I got to say is it isn't going to matter who gets the job if they don't change the 1-player (a guard) is the greatest player and should do all the shooting attitude. If this team, would play as a total team and not care who does the scoring, no one in this Region and most of the state could stop them. It's a shame such a talented team will never win anything if this attitude doesn't change. Go look at the team stats on KHSAA website if you doubt my statements. You got one last chance Whitley Co. to come together as winners or continue your selfishness and graduate losers! It bothers me to have to talk about my favorite team like this....but the facts are the facts! :HitWall: :happytear:

Assistant Donnie Jones will move into head coaching role in my opinion.

You know the bolded part is a sad statement on how you feel about the team and the coaching staff.....I am sure that the player that you support is influenced by your negative attitude, which may influence her attitude in a negative way....And if the post supporters worried more about defense and less about scoring she might not be in foul trouble as much and could spend more time on the floor where she might get more shots.....
The Stats on the KHSAA are skewed by the fact that several of the players missed games. AND you will argue that the guards take too many shots but they score, and you will argue the "4" takes to many shots.....I will take eleven "3's" in a game. When you are in foul trouble it is hard to get shots. which skews the stats, a player may have played but on a limited time due to foul trouble but still the game is figured into the stats. Maybe it should be figured by minutes played.
Here is a fact for you......
WCHS vs CCHS: Post plays less than 8 minutes and Whitley wins.
WCHS vs BCHS: Post plays most of game Whitley loses.
Interesting coincidence......
AND on top of all that...I know who the next coach is going to be......

This type of attitude is exactly what holds Whitley back from being as good as they could be. Too many parents/fans want their kid/relative to be the star, which often times adversely influences the kid.

Run It Up The Gut, since he knows so much about them already

I still dont understand you or your post.
This team had atleast three starters out for the majority of the season and you act like giving the ball to our best player was a bad thing.
It is a talented team, but you have got to get off there backs.
Parents kill progress.

I too thought this as my first guess back when Anderson said he was actually going to retire this time.
However, it wont be. Think outside the program, perhaps a coach from another team in the region......

Spot on.
And Wizzard isnt going to be happy with the new coach considering that person is extremely guard oriented right now with a great player.
IF things go the way ive heard....

Hopefully next year you can help Whitley make it out of the region.
Wait a minute, there are to many injured players over there.
I was hoping Whitley would have won the region so you could get ya some.

Go back and read what I said.....never mentioned a player or post position!!! Did talk alot about "TEAM"!!!! It is clear you have a problem with a certain "POST PLAYER" though.....try not to make your true feelings so obvious next time..... All I have to say is if they keep things only guard oriented next year....it will be another disappointing season. Oh, and the last time I watched Basketball there were 2 forward positions to go along with center position! I think the chemicals in your Diet Pepsi are really screwing with your brain!:biglmao:

This is simple, it is an observation and opinion...obviously what has been going on for the last several years has NOT WORKED! You are correct about parents killing progress and it has happened to this group, however I am not a parent of any of these girls! I am not on anyone's back, I just know what it takes to WIN!!! IT TAKES A TEAM!!!! Like I stated in my original post!

I think you and I both know if all these girls wouldnt have been hurt, this formula would have worked perfectly.
With Powers at Point, Smith at SG, Johnson at Guard, Craig at Center, and Digness/Sizemore at Forward, he couldnt have picked a better lineup. Jones and Sizemore as primary bench players made it very well complete. Not to mention this team could shoot lights out most of the year, im just not sure why we couldnt throw it in the ocean against Bell.
The best part for all of us Whitley fans, all of whom have pretty much already posted in this thread, is that there were only two seniors on this team. Its going to be interesting to see who will step up and run the point next year, maybe Jones, and i wouldnt be surprised at all to see Jones, Smith, Johnson, Digness, and Craig starting. Dont forget we also had two 7th graders on the roster.
The future is bright for this program and IMO, all politics aside, this is one of the best jobs in SEKY. Theres been a LOT of interest.

donnie jones will be the next coach if he accept the job but to me what would that help they need to get someone else out side of the coaching staff they had..thats what the ad said anyway......i dont think he will help them any....
03-17-2013, 12:36 PM
Come on Wizzard it is clear who you are supporting, even the most casual reader of these threads can see that.
I would like to say that I think the new staff will be very progressive in their coaching style. There is going to be a period of adjustment and I can see some kids who will excel in the new system. I would think that defense will be a keystone in the new coaches thinking along with running the floor well and getting easy baskets in transition, and better use of the the secondary transition offense. I would also looking for more pressing on defense to speed up the game.

You guys are acting like this is the next Calapari hire here. Come on geez, quit ribbing wizzard. You will be lucky to get to semi finals of region again. You will hire some of the same ole good ole boy coach like you had, as a matter of fact dont be surprised if its not his disciple who has really tore it up on the boys side.
03-17-2013, 04:05 PM
lillianhidgepork, well to the parents and the kids it is important, but I do see your point. Still it is a lot of fun to hash it out on here....seriously it is 5 months till football starts which is what everyone really wants to talk about.
It will NOT be the boys coach, bet the farm, write it in ink on the ceiling.....there is not even a slim chance that will happen.

Any truth to Overbey switching to girls and Morris getting the boys job? Girls would be hard to handle if that were true.

Lewis Morris at Whitley? Hmmmm......

Has old LA (Letdown Again) Larry resigned yet? I know it has been announced, however, the job is not posted anywhere.
Come on LA, do the right thing for once in your life and retire. Let someone else bring the program back to its glory days from where you have let it slide.

That would be a great team, but I don't know if you'd be happy. With Morris and Smith and Johnson there would not be a lot of shots left for your player.

You have got to be kidding!!! That's the best they can do???? I have watched this guy coach in the past....the refs hate him! Oh well, what else can you expect from the good ol' Boys in charge at Whitley!
SAD DAY!:Sad04::dudecomeon: SOS!!!! SOS!!!! (doesn't stand for save our ship either.....use your imagination!)

I just heard it today earlier... It's very surprising to me that they did not really open this up and try and get the best coach available. I'm not trying to mean as I think he is a nice person and have nothing against him, but this should be one of the better jobs in the region.
