Marshall County 56 - Letcher County Central 52
#1
Final from Diddle.
#2
How do you not win when you play the worst team in the sweet 16, I mean 14th region should be playing on Saturday with that draw. Very disappointed. Marshall county was ranked 16th in the sweet 16 right? Just don't understand. I guess you can just be happy you made it to diddle. Just missed out on the best chance to advance in the past 10 years.

Letcher actually had a chance to tie it down 54-52 but Eldridge's shot was blocked and Letcher had no other option but to foul and I doubt the 14th would have gotten past neither Madison Central or Notre Dame....Notre Dame is probably one of the top two favorites to win it along with Marion County

Marshall Co scored only 2 free throws in the 3rd quarter. Man we lost a great chance to advance and ND is ranked 4th not 2nd, but apparently rank doesn't matter.

They are good. 14th has had it rough couple past years in the state tournament

Rough??? Marshall was ranked 16th out of 16! Last year 14th played the #1 ranked and eventual champion Manual, the year before they played #4 ranked Butler. This year wasn't rough. The second round game should have been a good one but definitely a chance to win it too! Oh well.

Last time a 14th region team advanced past the first round of the 14th region was 2007/8 Breathitt County defeated Rowan. I root for the 14th region when they go to state in both boys and girls basketball, whether it be Knott Central, Letcher Central, Perry, Powell or whoever but the 14th hasn't done so well at the state tournament since 08.

You need to check the ratings more closely. Going into the state tournament Marshall County was rating ahead of Shelby Valley and Corbin and only two points less than Letcher Central. LCC and Marshall County were about dead even talent wise and they pulled it out at the end. Notre Dame would have been a difficult team to beat. You keep pointing out the previous two seasons comparing the draws. Well LCC was not rated in the top 20 all year this past season. Perry Central was in the top 20 two years ago and in the top 5 last year with a statewide all-star team. Most Perry Central fans were confident that they were going to beat Manual and win state. They didn't. In two years, a well-designed, well recruited team, won 0 games in the state tournament. The biggest excuse on BGR for Kendall Noble leaving Breathitt County was that she was improving herself and her chances. She left a 4 time regional champ with 1 state tournament win to transfer to a school and win 2 more regional titles and 0 state tournament wins. She would have done that at Breathitt is she had stayed. I think that you are still upset over LCC coming into the Punkin Palace and beating your beloved Lady Commodores in front of their home crowd(what little there was of it).

Sorry I hurt your little cougar feelings, I'm sure your proud you finally made it to the state tourney. Look at the sweet 16 ratings by Dave Cantrell, they were 16th out of 16, #45 hit a couple big 3s to win the game that PCC handled an 8+ pt lead most of the game. You may be forgetting but this was only a upset in your eyes. LCC was supposed to win by double digits. And yes we have the worst fan based support, ever!!!! All I'm saying is LCC should have played on Saturday! I wasn't trying to sound negative just PCC had 2 very good teams to play in the first round and LCC didn't. I was there and LCC didn't play up to their potential, they should have played on Saturday. That's all. LCC put on a good comeback and won the region, I was just hoping for a little run at state for the 14th. Good luck next year. LCC girls you did fine, I just felt you were better than you showed.(not being mean, I just felt you were the better team).
