Here is a nice update on offers and recruiting interest over at Perry Central:
Spurlock confirmed that 6-foot-7 small forward Justin Johnson has offers from Western Kentucky, Murray State, Winthrop, Lipscomb, Belmont, Indiana State, Northern Kentucky, Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky. He also noted that Southern Miss has been very active lately.
Dalton Cornett, a 6-foot-7 power forward, has offers from Lincoln Memorial and several Mid-South Conference schools. Union (TN) has started recruiting Cornett in recent weeks.
Northern Kentucky has also offered Braxton Beverly, who is widely considered to be one of the top freshman guards in the state.
Austin Pray, who starts at small forward on the basketball team, has football offers from Air Force, Eastern Kentucky and multiple NAIA schools. Pray scored an impressive 32 on the ACT and currently maintains a 4.2 GPA.

Is Johnson 6`7"? I thought more like 6`5"

Johnson is a legit 6'6 but he's a Power Forward. No chance he can play wing at any level in college.

Johnson is going to make somebody a great college player.

Johnson is only a junior. After the show I saw him put on in the Toyota Classic there is little doubt he will play D1. He has the physical attributes how high he goes depends on how hard he works at it. Needs to work on his ballhandling and his free throws. When you get at that level if you have the physique it's how hard you work at it. When the game is on the line he shows that determination to win. You can't teach that. Some have some don't. IMO he has a very bright future.Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

No way Johnson can play at Western Kentucky, Belmont, Lipscomb or Murray State. He might get a scholarship but he can't compete there. What he's doing in high school is strictly because of his size. I can comment further if needed...

Bro. Cecil, how tall is Johnson? 6'5", correct? What position do you play in college at 6'5"? You will either play shooting guard(70%) of time or either small forward. Watch a Murray St. game this year and tell me where he fits into their scheme. Watch them get up and down the floor. He has a LONG way to go. He's scoring 20 and getting 15 rebounds against kids he's 2-5 inches taller than and outweighing by 50-75 lbs. His ball handling and outside shooting would have to improve tremendously before he could play a the above-mentioned schools. I see him as an NAIA player. Tell me why I'm wrong.

The kid is a legitimate 6'6 maybe 6'7. He's only 16 years old. Just turned 16 this summer. I followed ball a long time. He is still growing still maturing. I watch ball all the time. This kid has A long way to go. He will play probably the 3 position in college. His future depends on how hard he works. Down there in the Toyota Classic he was playing against kids as big as he was or bigger. Had six dunks. Have you saw him in person. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

Love seeing all this talent in the 14th region this year

Haven't SEEN him in person but watched 3 games on TV from WYMT. Will be very surprised if he goes higher than NAIA and gets any playing time. If he plays the 3 in college, he'll need to lose about 30lbs. and really develop some ball handling & shooting skills. Defense is a whole different topic too. Check out Murray St. They're playing on ESPNU. He wouldn't last 5 min. in this game.

He only played in two games on WYMT. Sounds like you need to get off the couch and catch some of these games in person. Hard to judge from just TV. I have followed ball all my life. The kid has things he needs to work on but that's my point he's young and a physical specimen. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

So you have seen the kid play on TV and you are going to make the assumption that he wll be an NAIA player based on that. So what is your level of expertise ? Have you played D-1 basketball at a lower level school ? What about the NAIA ? Johnson clearly has the physical gifts to play small forward at a lower level D-1 school. He has the size and jumping ability to play that position. No he is not quick enough or have the ballhandling skills to be a 2 guard in college. But to say he would be a good NAIA player at best, you are out of your mind and clearly do not know enough about basketball to be making such predictions. I will agree with Brother Cecil that you need to get off the couch and watch the kid in person like any D-1 coach would before offering a scholarship.

I'm curious why you think he can't play at those 4 schools but can play at Morehead State, Indiana State or Northern Kentucky?
Also not attacking you by any means, but have you ever watched Belmont or Lipscomb?

On the other players at PCC think both Dalton and Braxton have a bright future. Only got sidetracked on this because that one guy was talking so negatively about Johnson. Dalton will play and Braxton has a long way to go he is only a freshman. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

Have heard Pray will probably end up at Air Force Academy. But with his 32 on the ACT he can probably go anywhere he wants. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

I played at the NAIA level and have been around D-1 basketball programs and players, Johnson is good enough to play at a mid major D-1 school. He has the size and he is a freak athlete. If he improves his handles and develops an outside shot he could end up in the SEC or big east.

Congrats to the young men from PCC. I hope for the best for all of them.
