Post how 14th region team did in their Holiday tournaments;


Knott County Central (2-1) right now in the Republic Bank Classic @ Lexington Catholic.. Knott Central is having a great showing in Lexington.. Beat Simon Kenton by 18 and beat Princeton (OH) by 28.. In the Semi-finals Knott lost to a very good Henry Clay team by 2. Knott Central will play in the 3rd place game at 5 pm today.

Hazard (4-1) in the Las Vegas Prep Tournament, placed 7th out of 35 teams. Only loss was to a good Eldorado (NV) team. Hazard learning to play without standout PG Josh Hollan... All in all a good showing in Vegas.

Perry County Central (2-2) in the Republic Bank Classic @ Lexington Catholic. Lost to a good Bishop Brossart team, beat LCA and a pretty good Ohio County team. Then lost Simon Kenton in Overtime..

Breathitt County (1-3) at Farmer's National Bank Classic in Mercer County then went (2-1) in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament in Pikeville, with a good win over Harlan County by 2.. Breathitt County still trying to get it going...

Cordia (2-1) at the Mountain Schoolboy Classic at Belfry. Cordia's only loss was to a good Owen County team by 1. Cordia beat Pike County Central and Tolsia (WV).

Buckhorn (1-2) at People's Bank Classic at Madison Southern before Christmas then after Christmas Buckhorn went (2-1) at the Williamsburg Holiday Tournament with wins over Williamsburg and Heritage High (TN).. I believe Buckhorn played one more game at Williamsburg but I haven't heard for sure.

Estill County (0-3) at Legacy Nissan Shootout at North Laurel then Estill County had a better showing at UVA-Wise in the Alpha Classic going (2-1).

Letcher Central (1-2) at the Peoples Bank Classic at Madison Southern. Then Letcher went (2-1) at the Alpha Classic at UVA-Wise.. Letcher Central is (3-4) after starting the season (6-0)..

Leslie County (3-1) at home in the Hyden Citizens Bank Shootout with wins over Jenkins, Casey County, and Beth Haven. Only loss was to Shelby Valley by 1. Then Leslie went (0-3) at the Shirley Kearns Invitational at Model.

Lee County (1-2) at the Arbys/KFC Holiday Classic. Lee had a bad loss to Southwestern (29-87). Then Lee County won the Red River Classic Tournament going (3-0) and beating a hot Lawrence County team by 3 (83-80) in the Championship.

Wolfe County (2-1) at Prestonsburg Invitational Tournament. Wolfe's loss was to East Ridge. Wolfe then went on to beat Prestonsburg by 23 (70-47) and Morgan County by 6 (50-44)..

Estill and Letcher both got smacked right in the mouth by that Daniel Boone TN team. Letcher committed 12 fouls in the 3rd quarter of that game alone including 2 technicals. one was on Letcher's bench and the other one was on a Aaron Tackett

right now knott county is the best team, now its a long time until March 1st and both Hazard Perry will get better along with Knott. Breathitt County is a distance 4th and Cordia 5th Letcher 6th. The Wymt will give us a hint Perry has a hard road in Wymt with Clay and either Harlan Cent or Hazard in the second round and the same for Hazard Harlan cent and either Clay or Perry so next weekend should be fun and the weather is to be in the 50s so no excuse for coming out and supporting your team.

Knott right now seems to be in midseason form. Their showing in the Republic Bank Classic very good showing for EKY. Playing with Henry Clay right to the wire and if they had hit their free throws like they had been possibly a game changer. Hazard was right their with them IMO but the loss of Josh Hollan has hurt the Bulldogs badly. Perry still adjusting to the addition of Johnson and seems to have shifted their rotation from what it was earlier in the year and it seems to not be working. Both bigs shot the ball very well in the loss to SK. Both had a double double. Need to get the ball more. Breathitt up and down but could be dangerous to anybody. Letcher started off really well but has hit a bumpy stretch. WYMT is only a week away and could clear the waters a little. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.
