Rescue Workers Trying To Save Six Trapped Cavers

Rescuers are working tonight to save six people trapped inside a Southern Kentucky Cave. The search and rescue operation is happening in Pulaski County.

People in the area refer to it as the Green House cave.

Around 11 Saturday morning six people and an instructor went inside the cave to explore. We're told the group decided to take a shortcut, but the part of the cave they entered was flooded.

One man tried to wade through the flood waters and and ended up stranded on an island. They believe he could be suffering from Hypothermia. Workers tell us the other five are stranded inside the cave, and right now, are cold and wet.

The instructor was able to get out of the cave, but went back in to assist in the rescue. There are three crews helping with the rescue.

If everything goes as planned they hope to have everyone out of the cave by 2:30am.

The cave is 26 miles long.
