South Laurel is a very talented team, but Corbin is playing really good at this point.

South has lost both point guards to a broke wrist and broke hand in the first 2 games. One of which is Blake Sanders, probably the best point guard in the region. Not to mention that Rader just come back from a knee injury suffered in football. If South can win this one "at" Corbin, it will take a miracle.

Who is the other point guard besides Sanders? How long is Sanders out?
12-11-2012, 10:25 PM
Grubb is the other guard. Both are out 6-8 weeks. Although Souths 8th grade Jared Grubb (his younger brother) played really well against Corbin it sounds like. South loses by 1. Would like to know from someone that was there about the phantom technical called on Corbin in the 4th with SL down 2 that the ref changed his mind on. I was listening to the Corbin station and they said"Oh no!, technical called on Corbin." Then the ref evidently changed his mind to a personal foul after giving the T sign, and still didnt let SL shoot ft's while they was in the double bonus. No conspiracy theorist or nothing, but the Corbin announcers evened seemed confused by the call.

They called a double technical, that's why no one shot free throws.

Oh. The guys on the radio said it was a foul on Corbin. Said at first it was on South, and then said it was on Corbin. Thats why I like to find out from someone at the game. Doesnt shock me though after finding out who it was that made the call.

The refs were terrible! They made the game more about them then letting the players decide the out come of the game! Neither coach can be happy with the way this one was called!

Really hate to hear this about Sanders. Very good player and kid. Would really like to see him healthy again.

i listened to the game on the radio, the announcers said the game was very physical.hope south gets healthy the injury bug seems to have their number.

This was a physical game and I though the refs kept it in check, Hill had 3 fouls early in the game and most of the Corbin fans were mad about that. Some technicials were called along with all the body checks and reaching on both sides. Corbin at home with a pretty good team, South Laurel with a lot of injuries (hopefully they get these kids back a little later in the season) will make a run in the district and region. Somebody had to lose and no matter who won somebody will be mad. Great game can't wait for the rematch.

Corbin will have their hands full Friday night

Corbin is always very physical. They body you up and hand check you from end to end. They make you earn what you get. That is why they have remained successful even when their talent pool is down.

I've talked to both fans, and it sounds like it was just a great game with officials wanting to be the focal point. It still amazes me that Ealy and Philpot are allowed to, not only to ref together, but a Corbin game. lol. Anyone familiar with the 13th region knows what I'm talking about.
