Belfry, Bell, Brethitt vs. Central any chance
#1
Will Belfry or Breathitt lose in the state championship again this year? Central is better than I thought they would be. Poor Bell has to play them early in the play-offs. Do any of these teams have any chance? They beat another top ten six A school last night. When do they play Saint X?

Odds are against anyone against Central, but there is always a chance. Belfry has proven that you can play with Central 2 out of the 3 times they have played them in the finals. Finishing the deal has been a different story and all the credit goes to the Jackets. They are king of 3A for sure.

This thread is premature IMO. Can we at least wait until the start of the playoffs? Wink

We get the privilege in playing Central every year for the Regional Title. The other two doesn't have to meet Central till the State Championship game.

I feel bad for Bell because they have to play them early. I thought Ballard would beat Central last night. And yes, you are right, to my surprise Belfry did play with them very close last year. Belfry made me eat my words last year. I am thinking Central over all, may be better this year. Did Saint X beat Central last year?

does it matter when you play them, if any of them cant beat them?i mean really, that just means one loses before the other, yes it nice to day your runner up, but i know the 3 B'S would rather have the title...

I think all have a chance, but all will be considered underdogs and it would be an upset if they beat Central, but it is possible.

Anybody can be beaten on any given day, so yes their's a chance that either Belfry, Bell or Breathitt can beat Central. It really doesn't matter to me who beats Central out of the 3 as long as they bring the State Championship back to EKY!!!!

I think whoever plays them have to play nearly flawless fundamental football to have a chance.

A turnover against Central is typically an automatic 7 points, sometimes it is even a 14 point swing.

Belfry had the blueprint last year, you have to take away their running game and force them to beat you through the air. Meanwhile on offense you have to keep the clock moving to limit posessions, protect the football, then try to sneak a big play by them.

The thing is, at this point, none of the three teams mentioned have displayed to me the ability to be able to fulfill this role without turning it over.

I think a regional all-star team comprised of the best players from Belfry-Bell-and-Breathitt might be only a 3-6 point underdog.

But perhaps I exaggerate.
#12
Those 3 are all too slow and plodding to beat Central.
#13
seems like alot of people have crowned central, so why are we still playing games in 3a? well to throw my two cents in, i believe we are going to have an all mountain 3a championship this year. yes i said it, bell county is gonna whip central like they stole something this year.
#14
Good luck and pack a dinner.
#15
Do you really think that a Lou.Cent team will just show up and Belfry will just shake hands and give it to them. Belfry will be ready by then.

I didn't mean Belfry would just give it to them. Belfry about beat them last year. I would love to see Belfry or Breathitt beat them in the state championship. Maybe Bell will pull a big upset and neither one of them will have to worry about Central. The game is at Bell this year. Turnovers, keep the clock running, and a little mountain luck, who knows.

Bell county is tough on their home field.
#19
I would love to see someone upset them.
#20
To be honest, i just dont see it this year.
#21
I don't either. Belfry almost done it last year.
#22
Anythings possible. Nothing lasts forever.
#23
That's one benefit this year. We possibly will get Central on Log Mtn this year. Culture shock for them up in here these Mtns. Lol
#24
I'd say they have about the same chance as Mason County does of beating Highlands.

Beating Centrals speed is all about being disciplined on D and taking good angles. Two years ago Belfry was way too aggressive and ended up getting caught a step or two inside and they were taking bad angles the whole game any time Central went wide.

Last year Belfry played a much more disciplined game and did a better job containing the speed that Central has.

I think that both Belfry and Breathitt can put a game together and play with Central, possibly pulling off a win. I don't know enough about Bell Co to say about them.

Looks like Central may be beter thsi year than last. So any of the 3 likely won't beat them. Bell Co. at least gets them at home, but it;s looking like Bell is not as good as last year. Realistically Breathitt Co. might have the best chance against Central because
they might be able to shoot it out with them. But travelling to Belfry the Bobcats
probably won't get there.

It COULD, but why? It won't make any difference. Tilghman would
appear to have a slight chance to interupt things, but they either
have to come to Lou. to play Central who will haev already won
at Bell, or even worse they wil have to go ALL THE WAY TO BELL
who will have already beaten Central. If Bell can't beat Central at
Bell, PT ain't beating them in Lou.

Bell will have them at home this year. Maybe that will help some. Central may be better this year and Bell may be a little weaker this year. I think Bell is playing a freshman QB. I know they don't pass very much, but that would have to effect them some.

Bell Co is def better than last year. 16 Seniors and more experienced.
