I believe getting your hind end whipped to start off the season 2 years in a row, and deep down knowing you're never winning a title in the new 4a alignment has destroyed Boyle County's mojo. 2a Danville? I know it's a rivalry, but that would be like Highlands losing to Newcath. It wouldn't and shouldn't ever happen.

Blah. Blah. Blah. .... Don't you have a cheerleader's fundraiser to organize or something?

Losing in big way to start the season can't help confidence or team morale.

Wow. This is one of the more ridiculous threads I've seen. There sure is a segment of the Highlands fans whose entire mission in life is to toot their own horn at every opportunity...even when it makes no sense whatsoever. Why do you have to try and convince yourself of your awesomeness continually?

I think wide's theory has some merit although I do question the motive for starting this discussion. I am a Highlands fan but still think Boyle is a formidable team for anyone.

I don't think it destroyed their program, but it probably lit their confidence. Danville IMO is a big step ahead of NCC, even though it's a loss that shouldn't have happened it's not near as bad as NCC. Can't say too much about Boyle since they did have us on our heels at one point in the game lol.

This thread is a joke. Is this really a debate? Come on guys, tell me this is a joke.

Although playing Highlands is a good barometer for what Boyle needs to work on, it doesn't exactly build the teams confidence. Maybe if it wasn't the first game of the season, it would have a less negative effect.

Why would it destroy their program? Has getting completely owned two years in a row in scrimmage against Trinity killed Highlands program? No...stupid thread!

One game does not effect nor ruin a whole program.

I saw the Highlands Trinity scrimmage in 2010. It came down to the last play of the game. Last years scrimmage was competitive for the first half, especially considering Highlands had several starters, including both WR's and 2 OL who didn't play. The rotation of the defensive line was also about 10 players deep, which is not normal for a game.
To answer your question, this years scrimmage IMO did have a negative impact on the first half of the first game. Highlands came out doubting themselves and went into the locker rooms down 24-15 and wondering what was wrong.
The game against Highlands isn't destroying Boyle's program, but I do think starting the season with a convincing loss is having a negative impact.

Boyle won the first half, Two dropped balls were easy Touchdowns. Going to the single back set also hurt them. Highlands had no answer for the full house set.
Do you really think Highlands can give up 34 point to CovCath this year and win?
This is not the past this is now I don't care what happen last year or 5 years ago.
Other than T when will they see a team with a balance Offense or better yet, Passing Offense. Give them 5-10 yards off the ball like in the boyle game and see what happens. Will the Defense do a better job tackling?
Also Gave up big plays too scott Co.
What's going to happen if the Offense has a bad night?

and this thread is redic. they did beat the tar out of us the first half. and we ran up the score in the second half when they tired out.
they are a great team. next round will be closer if we get by cov cath

Losing in a scrimmage to a team in another class is one thing. Losing big in a real game to the team you know is the team to beat in your own class is something else. It's like a big obvious reminder that you're not playing for a state title this year right up front.

I guess we'll know how Boyle feels when the schedules get made for next year. I bet Boyle ends the series.

Boyle County has a fine football program with a storied tradition. The same can be said about Danville. Both are a credit to football in the Commonwealth. Fans down there in that part of Kentucky have a lot to enjoy and appreciate.

Every program has down periods. Be patient with the program.

Would playing Trinity destroy Highlands?

I am a FTH fan. But, I am also a Trinity fan. These are the two top football programs in the Commonwealth- including, as I have stated before UK and U of L. FTH can't beat Trinity this year. However, the Bluebirds don't have to beat Trinity this year. But, then, few high school teams in the country- if any- can beat Trinity right now.
So, let's just enjoy both of them for their superlative abilities and their matchless traditions.

Do you know anything about anything?
Highlands and Boyle County came up with a home and home series a couple of years ago, it was set for two years. This is not a annual matchup. If both programs feel like this is beneficial to their program, both financially and competitively, then this game will continue. Boyle County is not known to "back down" from an opponent, no matter what you might think. You're non-sense is killing me. :HitWall:

I salute Boyle County for being willing to play the best. You don't get better beating up on a lesser team. I'm sure Boyle County will learn valuable lessons from playing FTH.

Unusual logic to say the least...did scheduling Moeller JV ruin the foundation of Highlands football?...speaking of which did they play this morning and what was the outcome?
Good coaching staffs schedule " challenging " opponents out of district to id growth and development opportunities within their program.
If I'm Boyles head coach I print the title of this thread out and use it to motivate my team beyond the weaknesses I'm sure their already addressing based on the game experience against the birds.

I often wonder if the posts from Lefty and I on here have ever been used as locker room material anywhere.

I can't wait until fth gets blown away maybe then some of you will enjoy humble pie. The day will come it took Danville five years to beat us. And we will get you too. So until then just keep on running that mouth.

Boyle will have a down year just like everyone else has. You just can't sustain that year after year. Evan trinity and highlands will have a down year!

As long as they play in Ky, a down year is 13 and 2 and losing the title game.
