Buckhorn next year
#1
What will the cats have after graduating Matt day and the rest of of the seniors? Who will be there scorer?
#2
I think Buckhorn will surprise some people this upcoming year. Maybe not on the level with Breathitt, Hazard, Knott, and Perry. But I believe Buckhorn will be 5-7 range and will end up being a hard draw for Hazard or Perry come district time.

Buckhorn loses their first 6 but don't let that fool you. They will be a VERY young basketball team relying on freshmen and sophomore to lead the team. These young guys probably won't be winning the region but they will be a top 10 team in the region and a very tough team to beat. They will be led by sophomore Peyton Cooper who saw some limited time last season but done well when he got his moments. Also big man sophomore Caleb Estep will give them good size inside. If he can improve his footwork he could be a good player inside for them. Two freshmen come to mind right now that will be relied on as well in Josh Crank and Connor Hoskins. The thing that will hurt this team more than anything in inexperience. They have talent but will have to grow quickly.

They might give Cordia a run for their money.
Buckhorn will be the "biggest loser" of the region.

After Knott Central there is a quick drop in contenders. A group of 3 or 4 (Breathitt, Perry, Hazard) After you go past the top five it will be a surprise if the rest (bottom 14) defeat any of the them. Some of them may have good seasons, but it will all be due to scheduling.

^I would honestly put Breathitt County at the top of the region in preseason rankings. Knott 6th man (shrum) becomes a starter this year. Don't see them having much if any after their starting five.

I talked 2 some people the other day that watched buckhorn play clay. I was told Hoskins had 25 or 26 on them and Cooper had 16 or 18. I watched this team play jv ball last year. Cooper can't lead the team scoring but he can handle the ball for them and kill teams on defense. Hoskins will lead them scoring next year from what I've seen from them.

Looks like some good scheduling by Coach Noble. Looks like a good JV schedule with the exception of Breathitt and Knott on there. Guess he has to get the Kittens ready for the years to come. Smart on his part.
#10
what tournament is Letcher Central hosting on Dec. 8?
#11
Not a bad schedule for a very young team this season.

John will have the boys Juiced up for the season. They say they live in the weightroom.

The only way i see shrum starting is if Knott goes with a 3 guard line up.

Buckhorn will beat Cordia and now way be the bottom of the region. Hard to keep up with Knott Central and Hazard and Breathitt will always be fighters come tournament time. Buckhorn should have a decent season but fall short come tournament time. Not bad considering what they lost.

pg: peyton cooper do most of the ball handling and playing d on the other teams best gaurd probabky best defender and 2nd best all around player on team
shooting gaurd: josh crank 1 of thier better shooters
small forward: conner hoskins best shooter do most of scoring and help a lot with rebounding probbably best scorer and best over all player
power forward:dylan cole good defender small to play in side but uses his body well help with the rebounding also
center: caleb estep biggest player they have do most of there rebounding
but give this team 2 years and will be at the top of region IMO

^I agree. In a couple season Buckhorn will be a contender once again. This team once they get more experience will have more weapons than the team that just graduated. This season they'll be no push over!
