RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University senior shortstop Richie Rodriguez was drafted by the New York Mets on Tuesday in the ninth round and as the 290th overall pick of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Rodriguez was the first Ohio Valley Conference player taken off the board in this year’s draft.
