Maybe Butler would like to play
#1
Since IU is ducking a made for tv spectacle, maybe we
could do a deal with Butler. Afterall, THEY are the premiere
program in Indiana right now anyway, and they'd probably
WANT to play in a special national broadcast event in a
big dome in December. Maybe if IU can get back to the top
of the Big 10 it will shore up their confidence, and they can
come back to the table for some big boy basketball in a
year or two.

Butler is not the top program in Indiana and by saying so you are losing all credibility. If the series would have continued Indiana more than likely would have been favored next year.

First of all, I was really just tweaking those who are trying to
portray it as UK quitting the series. And IU is still the pre-eminent
program in INdiana from a fan's perspective, though over
the last 5 years, BUtler has HANDS DOWN been the most successful
program in Indiana, including Purdue and ND.

And NO, IU would NOT more than likely have been the favorite in Rupp.
It will be a LONG time before we see anyone FAVORED over UK
in Rupp again. And hopefully a very long time before we see
anyone wn there as well.

IU will not be replaced by anyone of stature in College Bball.
We will replace them with a scrandy.

I wouldn't count on that. Cal is very amenable to big time
tv events on neutral courts. It may be too late to put something
together this year, but if IU won't come to the table, I'll
bet next year another big "event" game with a name opponent
will take place somewhere.

Well I'd just like Cal to make up his mind.

Duke wanted to go neutral court for a series with Kentucky and Cal said they wanted a home-home so it didn't happen.

Cal releases a statement saying "They don't want to play us"

IU wants to go home and home while Cal wants a neutral court and it falls apart.

It was stated when the SEC expanded that we would have to drop a big name home-home series because we need the home games for revenue. Then he asks IU to go to a neutral court?!

It makes absolutely no sense and I'm sorry if I piss people off but I don't aim to please anyone in the first place. I just call this stuff out for what it is and I don't care if it's Coach Calipari or Kelly Wells.

It makes no sense to tell IU you don't want a home-home series with them for any other reason than you don't want to drive up there and lose another game in a hostile environment.

If it had anything to do with money we would have renewed the contract because we make more money off of one games at Rupp than we would splitting the gate twice on a neutral court in which we would have to pay the venue to use it and give them a cut of ticket sales and anything else that brings a profit at the game.

Blue blinders kill any kind of realistic debate.

I will be the voice of reason from now until the end of time!

As a huge UK fan I will say that "reason" is not a word that applies to most of us.

Guess you missed it, WE ARE playing Duke at a neutral court
in the Champions series.

Indiana DID come out yestersday and UNILATERALLY end the series.

I didn't see him say he wanted to drop NEUTRAL COURT big event games
to make this up, did you?
