Boone County senior and Florida signee Sydney Moss has been named Kentuckyâs Gatorade player of the year.
The 5-foot-10 senior swing player is the first basketball player from Boone County to receive the honor.
Moss, the daughter of former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss, helped lead the Rebels to a 30-3 record and a trip to the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Sweet Sixteen this week.
She averaged 22.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.2 steals going into the state tournament. She had 41 points in the Rebelsâ loss to Paul Laurence Dunbar in the Sweet Sixteen, giving her 2,976 career points.

BOWLING GREEN, KY. — Boone County High School senior standout Sydney Moss saw her high school career come to an end with a loss in the Girls’ Sweet 16 on Wednesday.
But on Thursday, Moss collected some hardware.
The 5-foot-11 Moss, who has signed with the University of Florida, has been named Gatorade Player of the Year for Kentucky.
One of the top-50 prospects in the country, Moss averaged 22.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 4.2 steals and 1.6 blocks a game as a senior.
The daughter of former All-Pro wide receiver Randy Moss is the two-time Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year and was named a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American. Moss finished with 2,976 career points after 41 in the loss to Paul Dunbar.
Moss also was named the Co-Ninth Region Player of the Year, along with Ryle’s Jenna Crittendon, by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
