Betsy Layne 59, Pikeville 49 (15th region)

Wow!

Radio gave pikeville only having 1 assist for the game. Hard to win playing that way.
#3
Great job by Jr Newsome lost by 20 a week ago and comes back and wins by 10 when it counts.
Need i say more Bart outcoached again.
#4
Good all around team game bobcats! Great game by all who seen minutes tonight

I love this! Were baaaaaacccccckkkkkkk!

I heard coach Williams from pikeville walk over to a radio guy and say, I will still listen to you even though you pick against us. Then coach walks away, I think he made the right call.

One of those nights.

Credit Betsy Layne, they controlled the tempo of the game. Betsy Layne did not play very well, IMO. But the Panthers just really did not do anything well tonight. All the momentum kind of went dead with the layoff. Still very proud of how the team progressed and grew.

With all of the losses from last season's team I would not have imagined a 20-win season with a PIT and 59th District Championship. The field for the regional tournament was so balanced that if you slip up, you are going home. And that is what happened. But this team in the Maroon and White battle all year through injury, fatigue, slumps, etc... And grew into a solid basketball team in EKY.

I really feel for the seniors leaving. It is always tough to go out, but unfortunately every team but 1 will. Tackett provided an example that senior should and Branham was spectacular- 15th Region POY. Those are both nice basketball players, but just as exceptional as people and great examples for the underclassmen.

Two evenly matched teams went at it, and Betsy Layne deserved this win tonight. Congratulations to them. I hope all PHS fans will show class and respect as well as Bobcat fans (well by the time I hit post I see that that ship has sailed, TRUE Panther fans, I urge you to ignore the immature posts and treat it as if they do not exist.). Nights like this really make me realize how much this school and community mean to someone like me. I have next to nothing invested in it, but it feels like I was right there with those guys when the clock ran out. It is tough to swallow, but the Maroon and White will always rise up and come back. For the seniors and this program, one last time for this 2011-12 Season:

Hail Pikeville!

Good luck to all the teams left!

Now I know why pikeville is so good at football. Their in the weight room so early.

Well spoken post, Panther Thunder. Two very evenly matched teams playing good defense and battling hard. Congratulations to the Bobcats. I don't believe either team played particularly well tonight, certainly not to the best of their abilities. But the tough defense on both sides played a huge part in that.

Pikeville's good at football?!

Haha, Just kidding. I understand what you mean Thunder, I despise Pikeville and Pike Central but I will tip my cap when the season comes to an unfortunate close and say good work this year and farewell to the seniors. While I feel terrible that they weren't able to achieve their goals just as our football seniors fell short this year, I certainly don't mind seeing "Pikevull" out of it Tongue Respect, though.

Congrats Bobcats!

As I said earlier, as goes Branham and Rowe, so goes Pikeville. It was very obvious that Pikeville and the guards were out of sync tonight. I certainly don't think Coach Williams got "outcoached" I hate that word BTW. It was just a matter of them not sinking shots and BLHS played a fine game.

Credit BL's D for that. Although there WERE numerous shots that went in and out, Chase Hall had 3 alone that did that on him. One or two when the score was only 4 points difference.

Well, got this one wrong also. I should have known not to try and even pic anyone in this Tourney. Way to evenly matched through out.

^ Especially this game where each team is around the same size and likes to run.

Great game by both squads!

Congrats BL!

I love to way Roberts plays.

Did Branham get POY? If so, CONGRATS!

Great defensive game from BL, especially Case and Roberts. Congrats BL and good luck!! Excited about tonights games!!!
#19
First time this year I have seen BL play, great coach, patient O, stifiling D. Pikeville exhibited no patience on offense (they never were out of the game just tried to get it all back with one shot) leading to bad shots. I have to agree though that as goes Rowe and Branham goes Pikeville.
#20
It's been a long ride Panthers, and a winning season. Wish the best to the outgoing seniors. Congrats to BL. Bobcats.
#21
Tough loss for the Panthers. IMO they never really threatened the Bobcats in this one. Congrats Bobcats on your victory. Good luck untill you meet up with the Blackcats.
#22
Congrats to Betsy Layne!

I said it in an another post Pikeville is only as good as the refs in the 15th make them. When you get fair refs you see how it ends Belfry wins tonight and Pikeville lost.Im not sayin Belfry is Much better than any team just that 15th region refs SUCK.

Ok. This one I can't let go. If you had seen even half the games Pikeville played, you would never say that. Refs might suck, but you're implying all calls usually went for Pikeville. I call BS on that. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Ethan, Jacob, Will, and especially Wes Anderson just get hacked to pieces all night with only the most blatant incidents getting called. Ridiculous. Figures a Belfry fan would claim that. Enjoy being in the semis, your season will end there. I hate that for the players, butbif it shuts people like you and a couple other ridiculous posters up, boo-yah.

Wow..who would've thought Pikeville would lose tonight and ER win? Hate that they lost though..wanted a rematch and hate BL.

Betsy Layne made a statement for sure.

What's the purpose of posting this picture? This young man gave his all, and was especially clutch as the game wound down. He will be back next year and will be a force to be reckoned with. I just don't think posting this without others as well (action shots, etc) was appropriate. It comes across as a "dig" at Pikeville and/or the player, even if that wasn't your intent.

How could you see this as a dig towards this young man? To me it shows a player who gave his all and came up a little short. It shows how bad he wanted it.

It is simply a picture if it should not be shown then you should talk to the person who took it.
