IMO, the best 1st round match up is Bardstown vs. Lexington Christian at 11:30 a.m.

No game looks like a total blowout as far as the ratings go, but I took a stab at ranking the games according to how competitive/close the match-ups appear to be.

Bardstown looks to be a slight favorite over LCA in their first game, and the next two on the list look like complete pick 'ems.

1. Bardstown-LCA-
2. West Carter-Webster Co
3. Buckhorn-Owen Co
4. DeSales-Danville
5. Betsy Layne-Heath
6. Holy Cross-Barbourville
7. Brossart-Collegiate
8. Glasgow-McLean Co

What is the criteria to compete? I see several schools that are not single A in football in the field.

there is no real criteria other than being known state-wide as a small school. The closest alignment they come to using is the 3 class system track & field uses. I also know if the school's 4 year average enrollment is 700 or over, then they don't let you in. Also not every small school participates in it.

Looking forward to the tournament being in Frankfort. I like the civic center. I think it is a nice place to watch a basketball game.

Correction to my 1st response, it is actually the 125 smallest schools in the state that accept the offer to play in it. When a school turns down the offer, they go to the next largest school. Each school contract is 2 years old.

This is the a great group of Class "A" teams. This is the best group I have seen in the past 10-15 years.

Been working overtime so I can travel up for this tournament. Come on Buckhorn and Betsy Layne. You guys need to make this worth my time. I would love to see one of our mountain teams win again this year.
#17
Any idea where to park? Been there a couple of times and remember it being limited.

Isn't barbourville a mountain team?

oh yes, they sure are, and I will be happy to see them do well to. I didn't mean anything negative toward them by naming Buckhorn and Betsy Layne. It's just that those two teams are teams that I get to watch play on a regular basis and I have watched several of the boys play since grade school. I don't think I have watched Barbourville play in several years. Just haven't had the opportunity to. Good luck to your team!

Lol it's cool. I understand. It would be nice to see a mountain team win it. Good luck to your teams as well!!

there's a parking garage on Clinton Street and lots off of Holmes & Reagan streets. There's some other places you can park in downtown Frankfort, all of them being a fairly short walk.

^ Correction SK, Collegiate beat Brossart in overtime. you've got Brossart in the quarters
#25
