Louisville Trinity falls to Don Bosco in virtual national championship game
#1
A little rust doesn't hurt in the virtual world.

Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), which beat Bergen Catholic for its sixth consecutive state title on Dec. 2, defeated Trinity (Louisville) 41-35 in the Super 25 Virtual National Championship on Monday.

The game was between two unbeaten No. 1-ranked teams. Don Bosco was the top team in the Super 25 Expert rankings and Trinity came in as the No. 1 team in the Super 25 computer rankings.

The teams have never met in the real world. A postseason matchup had been discussed but dismissed because the National Federation of State High School Associations doesn't sanction a national championship for high school football.

For a lot less expense, no air travel and no injuries, the result was decided by a computer simulation. Surprisingly, the score was high for two good defensive teams, neither of which had allowed that many points. The most Don Bosco's Ironmen had allowed on the field this season was 22 while the Rocks hadn't given up more than 21.

The bracket for the Super 25 Virtual National Championship included 64 teams selected by HighSchoolSports.net based on computer ratings.

Don Bosco Prep bought a better computer than Trinity.

After all, there is more money in suburban NYC than there is in suburban Louisville.

BTW, here is a link to the bracket http://www.highschoolsports.net/massey/N...Boys/2011/
