Shelby Valley 101 - David School 31
#1
dang i say this was a blow out! but anyone could beat them, why don't they just forget about haveing a ball team?
#2
Did David come close to winning a game this season?
#3
Because they have a group of kids that love the game of basketball and just because they dont have the best team around I'm glad that this team has stuck with it all season and continue to play even when teams have had no mercy on them.
#4
any stats? Congrats Valley and goodluck in the championship and in the region tourney!
#5
who will valley play next?
#6
No excuse for beating them this bad for the 3rd time this year.
#7
I have an excuse...David is awful...

Good post #_4. There are kids out there that love the game and do not have a chance to play. At least these kids are given the chance whether they get beat every game or not. Boys keep your head up and the times you continued to play even though you did not win a game, you are all WINNERS to me because you never gave up.

Way to go guys for sticking in there! This is what heart means to me, just wanting to play the game and grateful for the chance to play giving it your all!

I really admire your post, it dont matter what kind of team they have, as long as they have the will to play for the LOVE OF THE SPORT and not for other people, they are playing for the right reaons.

the starters played long enough to say "we started" and that was it- we had two 8th graders who played like the whole game- and the rest was like third-string players- so what was Valley supposed to do- i dont c how u can say its valleys fault.

The David School came close to beating Piarist once. The two teams played five times. While Piarist won four of the five games by an average of 27.25 points per game, one time the David School kept up with them as they only lost by the score of 59-53.

If one os those players was Elijah, he is prob. the best player on the team.

David has a team because the players there want to play basketball, even if they don't win. I also think they give other teams good game experience when they play because the other teams usually play their bench, getting them ready for next season, etc. But I don't think any team, even playing with JV/freshman should beat them by 100 or more, its just not right.

I was there and the only way you keep from beating this team that bad is to tell SV not to shoot the ball. This team would get beat by most girls teams in the 15th.

AMEN! I second that emotion!

what they need is some rebounders and a point guard that actually passes the ball. Nathan Robinson had 14 points and didn't miss one shot that shows you how much
#23 and #3 passes the ball maybe if he got more shots last night they would have scored more than 31 points. but they still got balls knowin there gonna get mercied every game but still play hard till the end
#22
Congrats Valley

This is bad sportsmanship on the coach and the team as a whole...They beat them this bad bc they could...Sl could have beaten Hazard probably this bad but they have more class...You guys at David stay with the plan and play the best you can..Good Luck in the coming year..Valley may you never win another game..

Another post by someone who has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Shelby Valley played their last 5 or 6 players nearly the entire game. A player that never gets into a normal varsity game scored 26 points last night. If you beat them with you last string players, 2 8th graders, 1 freshmen, 2 sophomores that never play, and a junior that rarely plays, what else can you do. This is truly a case where David is really just that bad. No offense intended to them, but they really are difficult to keep from pulling away from. I really wish people would know the facts before they open their mouth...

East Ridge beat David 71-22 and 96-12. Pikeville beat David 105-39 and 81-27. (I'm curious: is there a points-scored portion of the tiebreaker?) Prestonsburg took David 73-15, and Buckhorn won 84-19 and 95-20. In fact, the only school David was remotely close to in scoring terms was Piarist.

Some of you need to consider how truly bad this team is, apparently. You can't just tell your JV and younger players just to not play; they need the work and to be perfectly honest, it would be insulting to do that to David and an affront to those kids' honor.

And maybe not play man to man the whole game, but I did like how Valley came out pressing the whole first quarter and almost hold them scoreless for the period.:boo:

This truly was a sad game on Valley's part. I would've beat 'em by 200 points.
#28
What can you do? Tell your bench to not shoot, ever?

Getting into a varsity game - especially a tournament game - is what keeps the young kids practicing and working hard.

If I played for the David School, I'd be insulted if somebody wouldn't shoot the ball against me. I'd expect people to keep coming at me the whole game, even if it's the seventh grade kid sitting at the end of the bench. You play basketball to play basketball, not to debate the ethics of scoring like it's the Geneva Convention.
#29
I agree you dont tell your younger players who never get in not to try or not to score if they get the chance. and if it wasnt for games like this these kids would get any glory, besides sitting the bench.
