How was Pburg's defense tonight?
And 36 points? Wow, that kid went off. Good win.

vundy33 Wrote:How was Pburg's defense tonight?I only saw half the game (2nd half) but I was not overly impressed with their defense or full court press (the few times I saw them use it). Ethan Rowe was tremendously faster than the kid guarding him, so on ball pressure was not effective. I agree with PT, Jamerson had a good game for them. I haven't seen Prestonsburg play before tonight, so I can't make a fair assessment, but definitely not "all that" on this night.

With Pikeville, overall from what I saw, good at breaking the press, have decent ball movement. Need to learn to put the ball on the floor and go for the strong layup when possible to get bigs in foul trouble. I saw a little too much pull up and shoot from a couple of them, but it is early enough in the season where I'm not too critical of many teams, some of whom only have 3 or 4 games under their belts. Pikeville will be tough to handle come tourney time though, IMO.

LCDawg Wrote:Wow... only 2 main scorers for Pikeville it appears.Yes, Ethan and Will are the main cogs, but Hamilton is capable of double figures anytime as well' and McAnallen can sneak up on you. Hamilton played the point tonight and was looking to pass first. Rowe is a creator off the dribble/penetration. But Rowe or Branham either one is capable of a game like this on any given night. Watching Rowe and Wolter is going to be an interesting matchup

BTW, thanks for answering my post PHS.
Also, anyone know ANYTHING about the SV game? I ask because this is the best place without starting a new thread.

1. Jamerson had 16 pts 17 rebs. (13pts 11rebs 2nd half)
2. The press was not very effective. Rowe for Pikeville just seemed much faster than anyone on the court. That kid is fearless. He drove to the basket and made some unbelievable shots. Not to mention he has some tremendous range.
3. P'burg was without Jarrell last night due to strep.

Amazing game for Rowe.

You can always count on Pville for hustle and for someone to go off and have a big night. But for some reason they never seem to finish the season the way they start. Now to not be to harsh they have been in the same district with the Valley Dynasty for the better part of a decade but that dynasty is gone and there should be no excuses for the squad this year since the entire region is weak to average. But I dont see BACK slappers every being dominant again in any sport because of their enrollment and proximity to schools with easier academic standards.
