I've read this in different threads on BGR by a few other people too, but something tells me that Perry Central will be difficult to knock off the throne, especially since they now have Paige eligible. They're the defending champions and probably have a better team this year than they did last year.

Justice is amazing. He is easily one of the top 3 players in the region right now. Scary to think how good he will be as a senior.
#7
As stated in earlier post, thought this was going to be a tough game for Magoffin County.

Congrats to Knott County.

I went to the game....this is going to sound really strange since the Patriots won...but it really was not a good game for them. They played with much less enthusiasm than they did in the other two games that I have watched them play. Looked like they were exhausted. They rebounded very well, but turn overs and missed shots that are so uncharacteristic of this team. I know that Justice had 26 points, but even he seemed to have something missing tonight. They just were not as much fun to watch. I am just wondering if this waterdowned schedule they have had so far hasn't been a mistake. Teams with this kind of talent need to play teams that are as good as or better than them to keep them challenged. Playing all these teams that they are beating 20 plus points is not going to help them improve and will cause them to develope bad habits like not getting back on defense and slacking off on the press. They are getting ready to hit the road, playing in Lexington and Florida over Christmas break. I hope they run into a few top teams that will wake them up a little.

Congrats KCC. How about Magoffin. Looking at the line score' it seems the big 1st qtr too everything out of them the rest of the quarters were pretty eve. Pikeville plays Magoffin tomorrow (Friday), so I was just wondering.
#13
My comments would just be that It at least seemed to me that Magoffin made almost no attempt to rebound. I don't know the numbers, but KCC had to dominate there. KCC runs a lot of plays with picks everywhere and the Magoffin County players seemed really frustrated by that. They literally ran into the guys and fell to the ground several times. Pitts made some really nice moves, but I'm not sure he would have been able to do that if KCC was playing their normal game. No one player on their team seemed to stand out as the go to guy. But, KCC was having an off night so Magoffin may have been to.
#14
Yeah Magoffin came out very sluggish in the 1st quarter and KCC made them pay for it! They missed shots they would normally hit. Especially Colton Howes from the three-point line. He usually never misses three in a row. He shot better in the 2nd half though. And yeah Magoffin did a very poor job of trying to rebound tonight. They took some bad shots when no one was even on the block to contest for a board. KCC is a very good team though. And the crazy thing is that they're mostly still babies! They're gonna be tough for the next few years.

Come on Magoffin! Was hoping you'd provide us a monster upset...

Congrats KCC.
Can't wait to see Justice play.

Oh my my, sour grapes coming out again. There is just no JUSTICE for East Ridge.

I would make another comment about your hired guns from Canada, but my post would just get altered again.

Justice was on fire from 3-pt. range.
#19
Knott County was and is best team, however your comment that i have seen so far does not best describe game I watched. If Magoffin had not started tight probably been a 10 point game. Magoffin did a very good job taking KCC out of their style of play. So much so that Justice committed to of the most stupid fouls I ever seen a player commit, he could have easily picked up his third at start of 3rd, he cant play that way and expect to beat PCC. As I said KCC was better team but Magoffin played them closer than score indicates.

Just looked at KCC schedule, I would't exactly call it watered down. KCC has to play Jenkins and Cordia twice because their district seeds, West Jessamine is typically good and it was a close game, Boyd County is typically a good big school. Magoffin was undeafed with wins over Powell and Johnson Central. Scheduling is tough you can't no for sure from year to year how good a team will be.

Come on ANEWPAT get back on the bandwagon. Don't be so negative.

If you take away the Christmas tourney's from the schedule, yes it's very watered down with a lot of very weak teams from around the mountains. Other than Letcher which they have to play for seeding and Breathitt, Buckhorn, they don't play anyone very good. But I'm sure this schedule was done way before getting the #2 recruiting class behind Kentucky in the nation this year! Smile Any schedule would look watered down when you improve your team with 4 transfers, one being C. Justice(AKA, Mr. Basketball in 4 years)
#23
They also play Perry and Hazard.

They play in Fl and Lexington over Christmas break.

Congratulations Patriots! The boys did act and were tired last night.. it wasn't what I would call an off night but they didn't play as they have been.

Feb. 9th Perry County Central @ Knott County Central

That's a game to be watched. Beverly vs. Justice
#25
My pick is Justice... I thought Beverly was such a stand out last year..and then Cameron Justice transfers to the 14th and is dominant.

Nope, we didn't watch the same game.

Compared to KCC's schedule from the past few years, this is a very weak schedule. I understand that they have to play the district teams, but so far, the only teams that has played them within 20 is Magoffin and West Jessamine. Magoffin only did because KCC was having an off night. Anyone who has watched them play will tell you I'm right about that. I've watched Davis play since grade school, and it may have been the worse I have ever seen him play. As for the other games where they have won 20 plus, their starters spent as much time on the bench as on the floor. Well except for the Cordia game, and they were intentionally running the score up there because situation. The West Jessamine game was the only game they have played so far where they have even been challenged. I promise!

Not being negative. I think they are right there with PCC. I call it like I see it.

I guess that is what I am trying to say. In the other two games that I watched they had more of a spark and played with a sense of urgency that just was not there last night.

Beverly is still a stand out. He is just not getting talked about because everyone is on the Jaysean Paige train now. I am very impressed with that young man and can't wait to see how him and Justice pairs up.
