Cameron Indoor Stadium?
#1
So I have a question with ticket sales. With the students sitting around the bottom of the entire arena, does this effect the season ticket sales for fans? I ask this because me and a guy in my class was talking about it and it seems that most people on the sidelines are older people that want to be closer to the court.

There gym holds like 30 people so i doubt they have many tickets left over.

My understanding is that the upper level seats are more comfortable than the student section seats and the view is still pretty good, even though anything Duke is a sight for sore eyes

Cameron Indoor only sets a little opver 9,000 so any seat is going to have a good view and seem like you are on the court.

So do thy have the same number of season ticket regulars. Or should I ask it like this, the same percentage of season ticket holders to the number of seats

You meant to say "any sight at Duke is an EYE SORE"

Once upon a time, the vast majority of tickets for Duke games were held aside for the student body. Of course that was easily done because they
didn't have a real fan base.(still don't really in the sense that major
college atheltic programs in fball and bball do, it's just a front runners
thing to do now) I have no idea what the situation may be now,
but I suspect it remains the same, and that demand for tickets
from the Alums is not that great. If it were, with there would have been a
move to get a bigger arena some time back

Not really other than the Coach K era they were never really that good. Once he is gone they will go back to meciocrity. It is very hard to have a good athletic program at a hard academic school.
#14
Which technically coach is there right now. Can't argue that they have some of the best fans of any college program right now

Whats funny is Duke holds 9000 people.
Rupp hold over 24000

People pay more for nose bleed seats in Rupp than they probably will good seats at Duke.
I heard on the radio Leach said there were two tickets sold for 10000 dollars behind the bench on ebay for the carolina game.

I don't doubt that a bit, I wasnt comparing them to uk fans thought. You uk fans are some real dumbasses lol.. Who camps for a week to watch the team scrimmage? Haha but that's why it's the greatest tradition ever. And I saw tics fr 8200 on stub hub or ticket master one so I believe that 10000 stuff

Duke has a Johnny come lately fan base. About 20 years ago
it wasn't that big a deal. Now that K has had all his success
it is THE thing on campus. But they don't have anything like
the Carolina long time REAL fan base. Let alone a fan base
like IU's. And to paraphrase Sparky Anderson about Johnny Bench,
let's not embarass anyone comparing them to UK's fan base.

As for the non-student fanbase, their alums were never known
for coming back and following the team. Their "fan base" now
is much like NBA "fans". It's a FAD thing to do, pop culture, not
real team attatchment. Front runnerism. Much like all the
people you've seen wearing Yankee caps over the last decade+.
Not real loyalty to the team, just being on the bandwagon.
There's nothing there like the rabid fandom of say Bama or
Michigan football, or Pakcer football in Green Bay.

This is the absolute best way to describe their fan base. Excellent post.
