I really don't see why we have to necessarily drop any of UNC, IU or UL,
but if one has to go, make it the Tar Heels. After the despicable way
Smith creampuffed their schedule for 15 years in a shameless effort
to pass Rupp, we shouldn't play them anyway outside the NCAA.
Most people seem to think IU should go, but tey are an ACTUAL
tradition on the schedule. Though if Crean can't get them back to respectability, we might have to re-evaluate the series.

Play all three.

Why drop any of them? They should be eager to play the top teams! Especially non conference because the sec is weak. So play above normal competition in non conference instead of dropping teams to play weak opponents

Apparently the Athletics Office is thinking of dropping one of the three, I don't remember why they said we might need to. They issued a bunch of surveys to UK fans asking which one we should drop if we had to drop one.
I say drop Indiana. Let them prove to us that they are an elite program with someone not named Bob Knight and maybe we can pick them back up. They haven't looked terrible this year so far though.

That's what I say. Keep all 3(though if you want to change UNC
for a different big name opponent I say DO IT). For some reason
the possible expansion of the SEC sched to 18 games is given
as the rationale.

Here is something I found on another site about this...I think its personally stupid and would look bad on the program to bring in elite players year and year out but drop the elite programs!

Sounds to me like paypalcal is afraid that a decent team is going to beat him so he wants to drop them before that gets out of control! Hate the slimebag! He scarred to play real teams. Look at the games that UNC and Duke and OSU and even my spartys have played... You could stop the season right now and those teams have played a tougher schedule than UK will play all season! And this loser wants to drop a team? Get real paypal! you have to play the best and beat the best to be the best!

Keep all 3 and add Kansas.

Awful troll is still awful. Looks like the Spartans are 0-2 against those good teams they played.

DO you do any research before blowing stuff out your ass?
Expansion of the SEC will require some games to be dropped. Your statement it false. Kentucky played Kansas and has, UNC, Miss ST, UL, Alabama, Vandy, Florida All ranked opponents. Not a bad schedule.

Why drop them? Their a huge basketball school and are good year and year out.

Cal is wanting to drop a home and home series with one of them to
play more big name opponents on NEUTRAL floors.

I think if they have top teams year in and year out they should be playing the top teams. instead of Radford and cake teams like that... but they arent like my spartans and play UNC and DUKE right off the bat... Also the 2 teams that beat us off, were top 5 teams. Holler at me when UK beats a top 5 teama nd doesnt beat radford or OD by 10 points

Ill let you know saturday when we demolish a team that spanked you guys. Duke is not a top 5 team either. Maybe to the media. But u guys got man handled by a media team that's maybe top 15. SO when we beat Carolina Saturday and a kansas team that stayed closer to duke than your worthless team did. Then u gonna admit your team is trash?

I heard Cal talk about this.
The way it was explained on his radio show was that those teams are the only teams that they have contracts with that includes UK playing on the road and the school couldn't afford to lose another home game.
They are going to drop a smaller team, but if they drop 2 small teams that come to UK to play they will lose 1.5 million dollars.
Basketball and Football are the only sports that turn a profit and taking a 1.5 million dollar hit would mean UK would have to drop a sport.

Just doesnt make much sense to drop any of these schools to pick up another.

^SEC games are home one year and away the next.
They can't afford to drop the scrub teams that will come to UK to play.

Still the home games should be even, you dont play all your home games one year and stay on the road the next. So i havent really done much research on this or anything, and this may be a dumb question. But wouldnt the school make more money playing teams like UNC and UL and big rivals like that than lets say Lamar?

Drop a perennial top 5 team, who we have a rivalry with, another blue-blood, because you think Dean Smith(WHO HASN'T COACHED IT OVER 10 DAMN YEARS!) purposely, for 15 years, weakened their schedule to pass Rupp? And you think we could get a bigger rival to play?
You are one seriously senile man, and your view on modern college basketball is being viewed through 80's shades.

Oh I don't forget how they "gracefully" rushed to offer to play a series with us when Pitino arrived and we were on probation and everyone thought
we'd be down for years. Ir how they wanted to renew a series
with us after Tub had drugged the program down again. UNC'
STINKS on ice, and doesn't deserve to be privileged to play us.
And as Pitino pointed out, playing them serves no useful purpose
geographically for recruiting. We need more inter-regional
rivalries to make it easier to play games in more accessible
cities for recruits who come from all across the country.

If Crean can't get this thing turned around, I'd reluctantly agree.
But out of repsect for their history, and the ACTUAL tradition
involved in this game(Indiana and Kentucky being the TRUE
heartland of basketball) I hope they return to top tier status
and we can keep the game. But if they just can't get it turned around,
well you're right, there's no point to it.

North Carolina and Louisville are rivals. Don't drop them. Indiana is a washed out tradition. Drop them if you have to drop a game.

I'm not afraid of anyone. But in any event, what if I was?
do you think Cal and the Cats are? And since the Heels
have one of the rgeat big game chokers in history on the
bench in Williams, keeping them would be strategically
sound. I just don't like UNC, the ACC, or anything to do
with any of it. And would prefer we not have anything to
do with the outside of beating them in the NCAA if they
can get to us.
