SEC Fines Kentucky $50,000 for Celebration of Tennessee Win
#1
The post-game celebration Kentucky football fans enjoyed on the Commonwealth Stadium field after Saturday's 10-7 victory over Tennessee will come at a cost to the university.

The Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday that UK will be fined $50,000 for a violation of the league's access to competition area policy.

That's not an NCAA rule, it's an SEC rule. NCAA could care less if fans storm the field or court as long as it's not at a neutral site.

I'm pretty sure UK didn't mind paying it

It aint the first time and it won't be the last. My question is how exactly is UK supposed to stop them. If the SEC wants it stopped have them pay for enough security to stop 30,000 people.

Screw it. We beat Tennessee. Pay the men.

I will donate some money if they need it.

This wasn't imposed by the NCAA.
So for once this wasn't a conspiracy against UK....

Id pay it.

At the beginning of home games like this and in anticipation of people rushing the field, they should take a $1 donation from all the fans to pay for the fine. No way you are ever going to stop people running onto the field, especially seeing that UK as too many of these "streaks" to break.

If it was the NCAA, it would have handed out probation number 9.:1:

Well I agree with the rule, but you know there should be some exceptions written it that book of rules. Like if you havent beat a team in 1/4 of century you can do whatever you want after a win

Tennessee should get fined for losing to a team with no qb.

Is this precedented by another fine by the SEC? This seems steep.

This JMO, the steepness of the fine came from when UK stormed the field after the LSU win. Which inturn ups the fine for each incidence. The rule was put into effect during that year if I'm not mistaken. UK was fined $25,000 for that incident.

Theres no way for the school to stop it though.
I dont understand why they feel the need to fine schools for this happening, there is absoloutly nothing you can do about 20,000 people storming a football field.
#19
Do they really expect a handful of security guards to stop that many people? I personally see nothing wrong with it. If the fans feel that its that big of a win let them do it

According to that article linked it was UK's fifth offense since the rule was instated. And UK now leads the SEC in offenses.... WHICH MEAN WE ARE FINALLY AHEAD OF THE OTHER SEC TEAMS IN SOMETHING FOOTBALL RELATED!!!!! :Cheerlead:Clap::Cheerlead:Clap:
