ATHERTON
Coach: Melissa Earley (first year).
Last season: 7-18, lost to Whitefield 40-33 in 26th District opener.
Player to watch: Addison Murphy, a 5-10 junior guard, can play on the perimeter or in the paint. âIf she has a mismatch she can go inside,â Earley said. âBut sheâs also our best ballhandler, so she plays the point.â
Other top players: G Shelby OâLeary (5-7, Jr.); G Marina Stephens (5-7, Jr.); G/F Sharon Walker (5-10, Jr.); F/C Julia Lado (5-8, Sr.); G Mackenzie Dozer (5-8, Fr.).
Outlook: Earley, who played for Montgomery County, takes over from Dean Zangari after serving as an assistant last season. She inherits a team with just one senior (Lado) and four juniors. Sheâs excited about the freshman class, led by Dozer. âShe might be our best three-point shooter,â Earley said.
