ASSUMPTION
Coach: Steve Small (first year).
Last season: 15-15, lost to Manual 85-59 in Seventh Region quarterfinal.
Player to watch: Morgan Foley (8.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg), a 5-10 forward, is the Rocketsâ top returning scorer and will provide leadership as one of just two seniors on the roster.
Other top players: G Becca Durbin (5-7, Sr., 5.1 ppg); F Katie Friedrich (5-9, Jr., 5.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg); F Kelsey Kaiser (5-11, Jr., 5.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg); G Brandy Hunter (5-2, Jr., 3.7 ppg); C Nora Kiesler (6-6, Fr.).
Outlook: Small, the former Western Kentucky University womenâs coach, takes over a team that lost just one player (Maggie Hartlage) to graduation. The Rockets did take a hit when point guard Dee Dee Sliter suffered a knee injury while playing soccer and will miss the entire season. Small said he has four candidates to replace her who âare all about even.â Foley and Durbin will provide leadership, and the 6-6 Kiesler will cause matchup problems.
