Last season: 19-11, lost to Bullitt East 64-50 in Sixth Region semifinal.
Player to watch: Only a sophomore, 5-foot-4 Jocelyn Delgado will have a lot of responsibility at point guard. âShe understands that we want to push the ball and donât want to sit and wait for the defense to collapse,â Franklin said. âHer IQ level is so high, and thatâs why I have her leading the team.â
Other top players: G Kiara Barnes (5-5, So.); G Jarea Brice (5-6, Sr., 10 ppg); F Khalisha Henderson (5-6, Sr.); C Nikcoa Jackson (5-8, Sr., 9 ppg, 6 rpg).
Outlook: The Yellowjackets lost three seniors, including Sixth Region Player of the Year Brianna Averette (now at Weber State). Brice and Jackson are the top returning scorers. Sophomore Brianna Hawkins was projected to be Centralâs top player but will miss at least three months with a knee injury, Franklin said.
