Tigers have been dominating the states longest running rivalry in the State history for the last 30 years

Bellevue built a two-touchdown lead behind senior running back Jordan Fogelman within the first nine minutes of the game and held on to knock off neighborhood rival Dayton 17-6 Friday night in a Class A District 4 game at Dayton.
The Tigers (5-4, 2-1 Class A District 4) won their fourth straight Battle of the Paddle game against the Greendevils in the 132nd playing of this matchup.
More importantly, Bellevue clinched second place in the district and will host a first-round playoff game in two weeks.

“Anytime you get a home game in the playoffs, you love it,” Bellevue coach Mike Croley said. “This is a good win for our kids. That’s a good scrappy ballclub right there and they’re playing on Senior Night on their home field. And they were a tough bunch tonight.”
Fogelman rumbled 31 times for 118 yards.
“That is what I was looking for,” Fogelman said. “But it all starts at the line. I couldn’t do it without them.”
Passing plays were scarce throughout the game as the Tigers were content to play a ball-control game.
“Of course, I wasn’t going to throw the ball much and they had eight guys in the box,” Croley said. “So my guys did a great job of getting first downs and burning the clock. I was really proud of them.”
Fogelman's three-yard touchdown run capped Bellevue’s game-opening drive to give the Tigers a 7-0 nearly seven minutes into the first quarter.
Two minutes later, Fogelman followed the second lost fumble of the game by Dayton junior Dejujuan Walker with a nine-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead.
“They were pretty big,” Fogelman said of his two touchdowns. “They gave us confidence, especially the first one. We were like, we got the momentum so we’re just going to keep it. After we scored the second touchdown, we knew we had this.”
Walker’s two first-quarter fumbles occurred on consecutive drives. The first was picked up by Bellevue on Dayton’s second play from scrimmage at the Greendevils’ 35, but Tigers sophomore Tyler Ackerman coughed up the ball three plays later at the 9. That’s when Walker gave it right back and Fogelman rumbled into the end zone.
“It was huge,” Croley said of the early two-score lead. “You saw we played pretty much even from there on out. They coughed the ball up two or three times and gave us a shot. It wasn’t that we played that well. We played aggressive and we took advantage of the opportunities when we had them.”
Bellevue senior kicker Kaylynn Dill added a 27-yard field goal with one second remaining in the second quarter and the Tigers took a 17-0 lead into halftime.
That was all the scoring Tigers would tally, but it was more than they would need.
The Greendevils capitalized on a turnover midway through the third quarter to get on the board for their only points of the game.
Walker picked off a pass by Tigers senior quarterback Jake Sparks at the Bellevue 15 with 4:53 to play in the third, setting up a 15-yard touchdown catch by senior Danny Sparks on a tipped ball in the corner of the end zone.
Bellevue has won two straight in dominating fashion since opening district play with a 63-8 loss to first-place Beechwood. Bellevue beat Ludlow 40-0 last week, but bringing the Paddle back to Bellevue for a fourth straight year was special to the Tigers. It’s the most played game in the state of Kentucky and the fifth-most played game in the country, according to Croley.
“It was just nice to get a big win in this rivalry,” Fogelman said.
