Final from SV.
SV scored on their 1st play of the 2nd half and led 34-12. Leslie scored everytime they touched the ball, except for the last one when they ran the clock out at the 2 yard line. SV had 2 big fumbles as well. Leslie County's defense stepped it up in the 2nd half and got some key stops.
Leslie County goes to 6-2 on the year, while SV drops to 4-4.

SV had 491 yards rushing (Fields had 303 yards). Leslie County had 345 yards passing and 189 rushing.

Congrats to Leslie. Looks like they finally found their offense in the second half tonight. I hope they can hold onto it against Prestonsburg. I'd like to see them play the Blackcats tough. Good luck!!!

WOW is all i can say about this game..thought leslie was all but on the bus goin into the half after the way they played the 1st half but was i wrong this was 1 of the most entertaining games ive saw in a loong time i say congrats too both of these teams and thnx for such a great game ta watch

leslies defense stepped up forced a fumble then valley fumbled a snap and they had no answer for leslies run game or passing game in the 2nd half

I have to first retract my statement about Shelby Valley not getting 300 yds. rushing.. Fields and May are outstanding runners for Shelby Valley.. They are TOUGH!!
It seemed as if Leslie forgot to get off the bus in the first half.. And thought it would be more of the same in the second half.. But a big screen pass to #80 David Morgan got the ball rolling, and Leslie was off to the races.. Junior QB Ethan Hortan had a huge night for Leslie.. Leslie's offense was powered by #26 Chris Maggard who was a beast in the running game tonight.. Hobert Asher and Austin collett made some huge catches, and #6 Eric Hubbard was outstanding as well..
But I have to give it up for Leslie Co's Offensive Line.. They strugled last week and seemed to be going through the motions against Betsy Lane..Did they ever respond tonight... And a atta boy goes out to #54 Kevin sandlin for stepping in for John Brewer on th eline and doing a great job tonight.. And Freshman #58 Michael Smith played his best game of the year tonight..
One more thing.. We had a couple kids play with injuries tonight, #3 Blake Bray(Badly Bruised hand) and #56 John Brewer(Terrible looking bruised ankle) These guys weren't their regular selves tonight, but they pushed through it..
I think it is gonna be a great game next week in Prestonsburg.. feels good to see the Eagles playing for a District championship again!!!!

I have said all along Leslie is the 2nd best team in this district. But I really thought my Wildcats were gonna win it tonight. Get to work this week boys BL next Friday. Congrats Leslie. Looks like we will be traveling to either Somerset or Danville. Would have liked to played Lexington Christian or Middlesboro in the first round. But anyways keep your heads up SV.

Valley Defensive cost them the game, maybe they need to adjust alittle they should have never lost this one , but oh well

As for Shelby Valley, Stepp is an offensive genius but needs a good defensive coordinator. If he ever gets one, he will contend for a state title.
Didn't want to be the one that said it but defensive coaching on that team is pathetic and I really have no clue why some of the kids on D are even in their. When there are a few pretty good players that started early on in the season that did well, see little to no playing time on D. But oh well. I agree Stepp is a very good Offensive coach. SV should have some talented teams over the next 6 or 7 years. Hopefully the future brings some postseason success. But a state title is a bit of a stretch unless they ever drop to 1A.

Well that explains it. After all i've read on here i was expecting to see more from him. Seemed like an average player, but playing on a badly bruised ankle will make a better player look average.
Congrats Leslie. Great job in 2nd half on both sides of the ball. District Championship Friday.

I really enjoyed watching this game. It was very entertaining with a lot of offense. The only reason they passed so much was that SV stayed in man. LC ran kids long and threw screen after screen for big gains. They also did this and ran traps for big gains. Looking at SV kids I think that they are going to have to play some zone defense to compete at a high level with the kids that they have. Its too easy for an offensive coordinator and a qb to make reads when you stay in man the whole time. You have to have athletes across the board to man up like they do. LC had some good looking kids though. This SV team has really impressed me. The coaching staff has done an excellent job with this group. They are a lot better than anyone gave them credit preseason. Congrats to both teams for a hard fought game.
