That's a horrible Senior Night right there.

The referees should have continued the game for the kids. They are not responsible for the coaches actions!

That's ridiculous.

Article does not mention that Anderson did NOT have another rostered/licensed coach (assistant, JV, whatever) on the sideline.
And if the team's only coach has been tossed, the game ends with the other team winning (either by current score or by forfeit).
I'm NOT saying the coach deserved to be tossed. At all. From the quotes, in the paper, definitely not.
However, if there's no other coach on the sideline, the officials did the right thing and stopped the game by rule.

That's true or if they were being threatened by fans and/or players.

Are the refs. in trouble for this ?

It is suppose to be under investigation. By the rules the ref is suppose to talk to school officals before stopping the game which did not happen. The ref stopped the game before the school officals could even get to the sideline.
