Justice from the 15th region to Knott County Central, Jaysean from NY to Perry Central, Rhodes 3 from Houston Texas and rumored one on the way from Canada. Hazard probably has something in the works just been actively recruiting longer therefore they know how fly under the radar. Coaches may not be able to teach the dribble drive offense and basic man to man defense, but they know the best coach is usually the one he rides the best horse. Go Buckhorn who's team has been together since the 3rd grade!!!!!!

Jaysean was not recruited to Perry Central.

Are you honestly trying to say that Holland and Hatcher can't coach?!
Even coach King went to the Title game last year when most said he wouldn't make it.

:Shaking:I'll say it. Hatcher can not coach! I watched him while he was at Marshall County(he had the best high school facilities west of Lexington) and while he was at Graves County(he got all of the basketball players in the county, includint those that were supposed to go to Mayfield High) and he was barely mediocre. Watching his teams play offense is like watching paint dry while watching grass grow. I will give you that he is a descent defensive coach, but he could take a jump shooter that averages 30 points a game anywheres else and turn him into a guard that is not allowed to shoot at all. I swear I saw a game that was coaching and grew a full beard before his guards were allowed to shoot.

Come on Dreamkiller!!! This statements you are making just shows how smart you are!!! LOL, Between Hatcher and AL u have a state championship, a couple of final 4's and like 20 regional titles. I think that speaks for itself. To quote the GREAT ONE(bobby keith): "Great players want to play for great coaches. Dont need to recruit when u win, the great players will find you."

If you are a Buckhorn fan you must have forgot the years that John Paul Amis coached. He recruited from Breathitt Co., MC Napier and had a player or two that he got to live on the campus of the Buckhorn Children Center.

I don't like his style of play and his antics on the sideline but he can coach. He is one of the hardest working coaches ever. I've sat close to him scouting games and seen him take pages of notes.

I dont like the slow pace but to his defense he hasnt had a good decision maker at the point until now. We the new kid and alot more quickness this yr I really look for him to run the ball alot more. I guess we will see.

Most great coaches are full of @#$%. That is the reason they are great motivators. I agree with most of this post, though. If Bobby Keith looked me dead in the eye and told me he never recruited a player, I would say Bull@#$. Then he would bite my nose off. LOL. The younger crowd probably doesn't remember that. Both Hatcher and Al are outstanding coaches and Bobby Keith is one of a kind.

I have had several people tell me about that. JPA didn't with Jaysean, but he DEFIANTLY did so when he coached at Buckhorn.

It's like that with every coach.

I don't like his style of play either, but give credit where credit is due. This man with that style can compete with teams above his team in talent wise. To Hatcher, a win is a win( which is true, and he don't care if the final score is 33-30 as long as he gets the W.
Now as a pure basketball fan, I'd rather watch paint dry. It is such a boring brand of basketball. That is why I like Rhodes at Cordia bringing back a fast break system into the 14th.
But still give credit where it is due because with this style Hatcher can possibly have the commodores playing in the final four at state.

To set the record straight I am not a Buckhorn fan, I am a fan of those are willing to work for what they get and not those who have the resources to get what they need. Yes, I agree Breathitt is a lot of the times the loser in the recruiting wars, they lose their players to perry central and hazard (girls). It is all about development instead of recruitment. I just wander if cordia, riverside, buckhorn, lee co, etc or teams like those would have done any better with Holland or Hatcher was coaching their team.

This.....
Most so called recruits are the ones doing the recruiting. Most cases it is the parents and the player recruiting the school more than the school recruiting the player.

I think there is some truth to that on a local level but I do not believe the first place that a player from New York, Texas, or Canada is going to look is Southwest West Virginia or Southeast Kentucky. Most people outside of Kentucky has never heard of any team in the 14th region, including Perry Central, and most people in Kentucky has never heard of Cordia.

I agree with what ur saying but ky has a ton of young talent in this state and in eastern ky RIGHT NOW. In the past not so much. I cant tell u about down the road because we cant see into the future. Did anyone know that Ky alone had 10 kids invited to the espn top 100 camp for the class of 2014. This is UNHEARD of for KY or most other states. I guess maybe some of these kids just want to play with other great players and sure aint nothing wrong with that. Great players dont really care if the coach is a great coach they just want a coach that can get them to the next level. Just look at UK and coach cal. Great recruiter because he gets kids PAID, we have yet to see him win the big one yet though. But still every yr great young players cant wait to step into his program because they are one step closer to gettn paid. Sorry i got off my main point, lol. My point is that im sure some recruiting is taking place its just no diff whether its local or long distance. ONB, me and u have had this discussion b4 and we both know that its really not diff. Maybe easier to stomach if its local kids but not diff.
