Harlan Co. 6th?? very surprising

Harlan slips down again? Perry holding strong at number 7.

We will finally get a glimpse at what the Bears can do against solid competition!! Cant wait, I really believe HC will begin showing what they are capable of doing this year Friday night against a pretty darn good KC team. I was a little hard on them last Friday night, but it was only a little frustration over the fact they had not been in a position to show what they are capable of doing and they appeared to be a little bored. Thoughts that somewhat echoed what coach Larkey said about the game in his interview for the Harlan Daily. Bottom line for me is that I really believe in them, but I am not gonna get on here and sugar coat a mediocre outing, I dont believe a little constructive criticism will hurt any strong and confident team!! IMO the bears begin their climb back up the polls with a solid win over KC.

HC - 43
KC - 20

Franklin Simpson is good enough to be in the top ten. I think they will be the 4A west representative in the finals.

I'm with adopted purple on Franklin-Simpson. Lone Oak got the preseason love, Western got some at the beginning of the year, but I think Franklin-Simpson is the class of that side.

While we debated the merits of whether Warren Central and Christian County should have moved ahead of Harlan County last week, I was blown away that they dropped behind Franklin County in this week's poll. Not so sure about that one.

How does St. X receive 2 first place votes in 6A? Have these 2 voters not been watching Trinity play? Maybe they are seeing something that I fail to see.

Polls look good to me.

I'm not either, I think it's bullcrap myself, HC would beat Franklin County by 3 TDs at least, and i'm a Perry Central fan.

These 2 voters could be alittle biased...

I know one of the voters is waiting til Trinity plays an in-state opponent before they vote them into the top 10

Harlan County receive 1 First Place vote it was probally from there home news Paper Harlan Daily they got to vote this week but not last week. If they beat Knox Central this week they should start moving up in the poll alot of papers and news organizations hat ranking teams whom hav'nt played teams in there own state, This will make the second team they played from Kentucky so they should start moving up.

I just dont see B-town at 6 in 2a. I may very well be wrong but from what i have seen from the past two yrs and what returns from teams who beat them pretty easily last yr, i just dont see them at 6. But they have taken care of there games so far, so props to them for that.

Lit Ratings have Knox Central as #18 in 4A. By their rankings Harlan County is a 20 point favorite on paper. Hardly a "darn good team." They have yet to defeat a winning team.
#19
Most teams will know were they stand when team start playing distict games.Anderson co. ranked 9 will change in a couple weeks. Its how you perform from here on out you have to play better deeper in the season.anderson looking better than they did last year the loss to a decent bryan station really was a wake up call.so every team play hard dont worry so much about the ranking worry more about who you are playing every friday night this is high school sports anybody can get beat on any giving night. Its were you stand at the end of the season hopefully BG. How does North Oldham win vs a good South Oldham team and drop from 11th to 15th in 4A?

The LIT ratings are another one of those ratings that only consider in-state teams, so the only Harlan County game that factors is their victory over 0-4 PLD. Probably why they're 6th.

Buddy Ryan Wrote:How does North Oldham win vs a good South Oldham team and drop from 11th to 15th in 4A?

First, South Oldham is not considered to be "Good".....Decent, maybe. Second, it would be hard to argue including Franklin-Simpson, Lone Oak, and Madisonville in the top 10, much less 11+. Rowan is getting a lot of credit for the offensive power.

As I've mentioned several times in different threads, 4A can be broken down like this: Highlands is the clear #1, Then Boyle, Cov Cath, Lex Cath are a notch above everyone else and completely interchangeable in the 2-4 spots. Then you have about 10-12 teams challenging for 5-10.

North Oldham at 15th this week isn't a knock at them, it's just a testament to the fact that there's not much difference from #5-#15 in 4A this year. Heck, look at Ashland-Blazer, their only loss was by 4 points to George Washington who's considered to be one of the top 2-3 teams overall in WV and they are only ranked 10th.

Know the rules, only in state schools count.

Knox Central has only played 1-2 in state schools, so they are not factored equally into this equation.

Rankings mean squat diddly anyway Hatz, you sound like a titletownclown, go back to Boyle threads.

Why are you alwys hating on Eastern KY schools?
#26
Ridiculous that Fairview is ranked 4th in the state. Most JV teams could go undefeated with their schedule. Raceland is the only legit team they play all year.
#27
Pikeville would beat Fairview, no question about it.

So if they won why didn't they at least stay at #11???????

Hey, I know the rules of Lit thank you.

Quite the attitude you have for a gummie bear.

I was simply pointing out where Lit had Harlan County. In state or not that is the ranking Lit had which jives with the one mentioned in this thread.

But if you must, here we go based on in state or not:

Morristown Hamblin East is 2-3

Dunbar is 0-4

Gate City is 1-3

Lee County is 1-3

Whether you count in state or not, the computer won't give high marks for beating those teams. Harlan County has a great coach and I hope they make it to the title game in 5A but some of your fans need to get over themselves.

As long as I have seen Hatz post I can say he doesn't "hate on EKY schools" as much as he hates on EKY fanbases who like to chirp a bit excessively.

Big difference.
