Jeffersontown quarterback Demichael Jackson rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns, and returned a kickoff 93 yards for another score, as the Chargers slammed Shelby County 41-7 Friday night at Robert Doyle Stadium.

Jackson scored on TD runs of 35, 35, 88 and 13 yards as J-town, No. 8 in the Associated Press Class 5A poll, rolled up 351 yards of total offense.

"We couldn't stop him," Shelby County Coach Todd Shipley said.

Meanwhile the Rockets, once again, stopped themselves with four lost fumbles and 10 penalties.

"We're killing ourselves with fumbles and penalties and on defense we have to tackle," Shipley said.

Shelby County had 186 yards of offense (104 rushing, 82 passing). Senior Zakk Bailey led the Rockets in rushing with 47 yards on three carries, while junior quarterback Zach Shipley for 9 for 16 for 82 yards with one interception. Junior fullback Chase Manica scored Shelby's lone touchdown on a 24-yard run with 1:08 left in the first quarter to pull the Rockets within 14-7.

Any momentum Shelby had gained from Manica's TD, though, quickly disappeared when Jackson returned the ensuing kickoff 93 yards.

The biggest news to come out of the game was that Jeffersontown defensive end Daniel Ross, who has committed to the University of Kentucky, was ejected for throwing a punch at Shelby County tight end Chris Blake late in the first quarter.

"I guess he got mad because I was blocking him good," Blake said.
