I know this is the general forum--but I would like to see an intelectual view point.

When you talk about your favorite sports team, do you refer to them as "we"?

For instance, you are talking about the Cincinnati Bengals (your favorite team), do you say: "We played a really good game today. . . "

I am just kind of interested in the view point here. What do you do?

When referring to UK basketball I always say "we" without thinking..Don't know why, but I just do..

I used to always do it. But in last couple months I've tried to become conscious of not saying "we". So anymore, I do it, but only on occassion.

I tend to say "we" when discussing any Belfry sport. I am a graduate of Belfry High School, I cheered all 4 years there, my mom went there, my brother played football there as did my uncle, cousins, and my brother-in-law, my little sister went there and now my oldest daughter is a cheerleader there.

I feel like Belfry is a big part of my life. It's in my blood. As a diehard fan, I feel like I am a part of the teams/squads at that school. I feel protective of them so I make myself a part of them by saying "we" when referring to them.

I can't help it...it's just a natural response.

Yes, I say we because I am part of the program. UK is all about the coaches, players and fans. So I think "We" (if you a UK fan) is appropriate.

when referring to any collegiate or high school team, i always will say "we". i am a graduate of sheldon clark high school and i still cause a ruckus sometimes in the stands. i know all the players personally and they consider me "part of the team". so i say we. same thing with UK. i may not know the players personally here but i do go here. i do cause a ruckus in the eRUPPtion zone and i feel im a part of the squad. now when it comes to the professional sports i will be hesitant to say "we". it just seems like in the pros its more about the "me" then the "we". i like to see teams play for the name on the front rather then the one on the back.....granted UK is not doin that right now but that wont stop me, haha.
