Franklin County @ Frankfort 9/9
#1
What is the preditions, this is for the city championship.:flame:
#2
Franklin County is loaded with talent. This mighty 5A school should have their way with Frankfort.

What is this City Championship you speak of? Do they actually hand out a trophy for beating a small school?
#3
Its called the city championship but there is no actual trophy given just bragging rights lol...it goes to the team in frankfort you beat the other two highschools...franklin country already beat western hills so if they beat frankfort high they win the city championship.

That has been part of the problem on the East of Frankfort the last 8-10 years more concerned about City Championships rather than Championships that matter.

Good News for Franklin County they actually have a head coach that understands which Championship is more important.

Franklin County, Frankfort won't have the depth to stay with the Flyers talent for 4 quarters.

Franklin County has to many weapons this year. Won't be close. The get to add another City Championship T-shirt to their collection.
#12
Franklin is loaded with speed and power. Franklin by at least 3 Tds
#13
FC is the best 5A team east of Louisville. No contest here. FC by as much as they want.

Franklin County has the talent to be something very special this season. They are fun to watch and score a lot of points. Defense they fly to the ball and make plays.
For some reason they have a hard time getting results in the month on November when it matters the most.

Not sure why they continue to play Frankfort. They don't gain anything from it. They won't this season FHS is young and small on numbers. It won't be much of a game after the kick off starts.

QB COACH, I usually agree with your post and you seem to close to pulse of a lot of your comments. However, I am not so sure that FCHS is as talented as most think, and Frankfort will not be as easy of a game as most think. There is no question that Ryan Timmons is a talented kid and the Roberts kid is a big strong running back. But what I do know is that most of these kids are raised around each other and you can throw out the favorites when it comes to these kids playing each other. The kids at Frankfort have had the advantage on these kids in middle school over the past few years. I see this making a difference because "the young kids" expect to win Friday night. It is gonna be close, and FHS might even lose, but I would not count them out. Just saying...

Think about 1A Mayfield beating 3A Puducah Tilghman--in rivalries many times the smaller school wins.

Win or lose, this game will prove to be a great learning experience for FHS. A loss does not hurt FHS. It only strengthens them. They will reap the rewards in the 1A playoffs.
#18
None of the Frankfort teams have any luck in the post season... Frankfort just goes a longer week or so until beechwood comes to town..... tell any of them make it to the finals its a mute point. FHS, just likes to make excuses why they lose this game normally, been watching the series for several years, and this is the only year I feel that the Panthers do not have the talent to compete...... Most years they got the talent just they don't ever block the flyers.

Semi-Finalist

Now you can discredit FHS success if you want. But under Foley the last 8 seasons Frankfort has been pretty successful. They are knocking on the door of the finals each of the last 5 years.

As for Frankfort making excuses, I have never heard their coaches one time make excuses. They will be the first to tell you outside of 2 games they felt they had their opportunities to win. I have heard them say several years that the Franklin County game always makes them better and usually is the turning point in their season.

Just like this season they felt the Rockcastle was a learning point. I talked to one of the coaches last week and the felt if they went 2-2 in the first 4 games they felt like they are on the right track. Every year they say the talk about having 2 games that helps them the most Franklin County and Danville. They have competed yearly with both.

As for Franklin County they have been pretty successful over the last 8 years as well. I think their main issues from getting over the hump and playing for a regional title is Turnover in Coaches. They have had 4 coaches in the last 8 years.

SOME of those involved at Franklin County over the last 10 years walk around beating their Chest over beating a 1A school. Mostly fans and few hang-ons constantly down the two other schools in the city about being superior. I say once you start becoming a contender for the finals in your class then maybe others will respect you. You have the talent to do so this season, get there and prove you belong to be the top of your class and act like you know how to win. Instead Franklin County spends to much time telling people how great they are.

Good News is you have a coach now that understands it.

And none of that matters Friday night at 7:30 and none of that matters toward this years postseason run. The facts are neither team has beaten a Northern KY powerhouse in the playoffs in the last ten years and they must do so if they want to excel in the playoffs. Good news for Franklin County over the last ten years, Boyle Co, Highlands and Lex Catholic are not in their class anymore. Bad news for FHS is Mayfield and Beechwood remain but if they get over that hump they can beat whomever comes out of the east to win it.

Folks it makes no sense for a 5A school like Franklin Co. to play 1A Frankfort.

I give you FHS has talent in the skilled positions, but to be able to play 4 quarters of football witha school that has 5 times the amount of talent to pull from it just won't happen.

Franklin Co. has everything to lose and nothing to gain by playing FHS. Franklin has better facilities, more money, bigger talent pool. If FHS was to start beating Franklin Co. then a swing in talent may occur.

Also how does playing FHS help them? They don't make them better.

Frankfort has a great tradion of all the High Schools playing each other and have for years. As for Franklin County gaining nothing in this game is crazy, Everytime any team takes the feild they get better no matter what class team they are playing and I see this game as nop exception. Frankfort has had some really good teams and also has some really good coaches. Franklin County has also had some really good teams and now has some really good coaches. I have been to most of these inner city meetings of all the Frankfort teams and have noticed that all the fans of all the teams enjoy winning and no one enjoys losing. Franklin County, Frankfort High, and Western Hills are all class acts and I am sure this year will be no exception. Franklin County has a lot more than just Timmons and Roberts. They have Anderson, Maupin, Brough, Maddix, Giles, and much much more on their bench. Franklin County is loaded with skill players and will be for at least the next two years. Franklin County also has two exceptional QB's with Woodside and Bowman. It just so happens that Franklin County is doing well this year and a lot of you all want to be critical because they are a 5A playing a 1A. Frankfort has won at this meeting of the two teams before and could again. It is not always about the size of the school, but what the players feel inside them. This game can go either way and trust me Franklin County is in no way overlooking Frankfort as I am sure Frankfort is not overlooking Franklin County. Both teams are spending this week preparing for a good game and theat is why I believe this is the most unpredictable game this week.

Good luck to both teams.

Good post and good luck for an injury free game to both teams.

I dont think anyone has seen franklin county play if they say that timmons and roberts are the only notable talented players they have, theyre sucess in middle school means nothing at the highschool level they shouldnt just assume they are going to win in highschool because just in past couple years they beat elkhorn in football which just about all of those kids who just recently were in middle school do not play varsity at franklin county.
#25
I wish both teams well. Hope both teams have great seasons.

Sure is a whole lot of hype for a Franklin County team that hasn't really played anyone that impressive so far. I mean, they beat LCC by a TD and LCC needed a hail mary to beat a dismal Madison Central team. Franklin Co. is solid at the skill positions, but I want to see them play against teams that are tough up front. I'm not so sure they even win their district.:dontthink

This Game Comes down to maturity and execution.. This has the makings to be a great close matchup but if the young panthers are not able to execute then this one will open up early.. Best of luck to both group of athletes, Frankfort teams are on there way to contending for championships and thats great to see. Sticking with my Alma Mater because the pride that runs through me..

This is very true, Up front could be a problem. Franklin County is, however, not hype the speed they show is making up for any weaknesses up front. LCC was an off night for the Flyers after a bus ride in a 103 degree heat with no A/C on the bus. The O line and the D line did not stop the run from LCC as they have in past games. It is yet to be seen how they will do in other games aginst other competion, but it is coming up soon (2weeks to be exact) So maybe after that people will start looking at them different.
