Would You Vote Independent?
#1
Would you vote for an independent in the upcoming election?
After seeing how everything in our government has gone to crap and how it seems all politicians want to be "career politicians", would you vote for someone who didnt associate themselves with a party?
I think it might be a change that America needs. I know its hard politically and especially money wise for an independent to do anything while running for President, however, i dont know about you all, but im sick of the liberal/conservative views on EVERYTHING.
Cant someone be neither?
I definitely will not vote for Obama, I didnt last time, and im not sure on the republican ticket just yet, but what if a charismatic, young, energetic guy with a lot of ideas and a good support system run as an independent? I would probabaly vote for him and it seems that now would be the best time ever if someone wanted to try that.

Though I won't vote Independent, I'm not opposed to it. It's the politics of politics that I cannot stand. I still think the party lines can be broken, but not until we Americans force it to happen! Politicians do what they do because the populace who puts them in office only bitch about politics and say nothing can change, ye we are not willing to force change! Anyone raise kids? If you let your children run the house with no rules or consequences of breaking those rules, how can you expect them to change!

I have done it in other elections, but the Presidential race just seems so important that I want to vote for a candidate with the potential to win.

However, if an Indy candidate received a LOT of support and had a legitimate shot at winning, you can bet your bottom dollar they would have my vote.

When it comes right down to it, it doesn't matter what party affiliation a candidate has to me. I have and will vote for them all if I see them as the best. In the 2012 presidential election, I will NOT be voting democrat.

I wasted a vote on Ross Perot once and I will not make a similar mistake again. It does not matter who the Republicans run against Obama, he or she will get my vote. Obama is the most incompetent president of my lifetime and that includes Carter. He is also the most corrupt, dishonest president of my lifetime - and that includes Nixon.

I am still hopeful that Obama's poll numbers will be so bad in a few months that he will decide to withdraw from the race to spend more time with his family. I would still vote for the Republican candidate but I would love to see somebody less incompetent, less corrupt, and less socialist than Obama running on the Democratic ticket.

Actually, if Huntsman, the favorite of the liberal media and the Obama administration, somehow catches fire and manages to win the nomination, then I may just sit out this election.

you gotta be kidding.

those who voted for buchanna or nader in 2000... wasted their vote? They alone casted the most powerful votes.

Perot in 1992? Clinton won the election with almost 60% of the nation voting AGAINST him. Wasted?

IMO, no vote cast, is ever wasted. Things may not turn out as you like, but your effort, passion, and act of voting are powerful things.

I don't vote political parties. I'm a registered a democrat, have worked for blue dogs, libertarians, radical conservatives, and dixiecrats...... I love my country, and believe that the only vote wasted... is the one you don't cast.

Again wasted votes
Look at those who voted for Perot in 1992. They cause Clinton to be elected. Not a great thing in my opinion. In 2012 if a third party Tea Party person shows up on the ballot. Obama will win a second term. Which will not be good for the country

I've voted Independent before and I feel my vote was wasted.
However, I feel every vote I have cast in the Presidential election seems like a waste to me because of the electoral system.

I actually like the Electoral College system. It, hopefully, prevents someone like a Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian from getting some publicity steam deciding to run for President get every 18-24 person registered and vote for them. While many bad Presidents have been in office, they could never be THAT bad. The Electorate would prevent that, I hope.

I see why it's in place, and I totally understand it.

However, it is painfully evident that if I moved to Ohio my vote would be worth more.

I'd vote anything to get the idiots that are in office today out! Good grief!

If the Electoral College did not exist, then the votes of everybody who does not live in a big media market would be devalued. Candidates would focus their media campaigns in heavily populated states like New York, California, and Florida. There were good reasons for small states to insist on the Electoral College and getting to send the same number of senators to Washington as large states and most of those reasons still apply.

Eliminating the EC would turn national campaigns into even bigger circuses than they are now. Personal appearances outside of major metropolitan areas would become even more rare than they are in today's elections, IMO. The Electoral College is among the least of this nation's problems.
