i agree 100% that breathitt shouldnt be in there. there line is not up to par and to be able to run or throw the ball you have to have a good line.

Somerset is way to high, more like 9 or 10, still have some athletes but key losses, don't look to them to repeat the pervious 2 season they will have some losses this regular season.
Knox Co way to high maybe 10, new coach, I know he is a mountain legend but I think he will have to work out some thing early in the season but maybe late.
Hazard shouldn't be in the top ten
Perry Central way to low could be in the top 3

Are these ranking based on name recognition? What do these programs have coming back for the 2011 season that would make them top 10 teams? I am not disagreeing with anyone, just want to know who is on the list just because of tradition, not ability in 2011.

I think a top 5 would be much easier to pick than a top 10. There are so many good teams it's really hard to tell.
I still think top 5 looks something like this.....
1. Bell County
2a. Harlan County
2b. Johnson Central
2c. Knox Central
5. Belfry
Next 5.......
6. Hazard
7. Rock
8. Prestonsburg
9. Pike Central
10. Breathitt
Southwestern, Somerset, Pulaski are not Mountain Schools. :lmao:
No Harlan County in the top 5 is laughable. Clay at number 7 is laughable.

And I'll knock some into you, Pulaski lost as many seniors as Somerset and a much bigger chunk of their offense and just played a very tight scrimmage with Casey Co. where Somerset played a close one with Lexington Catholic. Pulaski belongs in no Top 10. Somerset should be no worse than 6 or 7, they return a two time all state wide receiver and their leading rusher from last year and plenty of O-line and defensive experience. Tevan Slaughter may be the best defensive lineman in the mountains. I agree #2 maybe a little high, but you are making some pretty bold assumptions about a team you obviously don't know anything about.

WOW! no P-burg with 90% coming back after a 10-3 season in your top 12.

Not tryin to hate, but that might be the worst mountain top 10 ive ever seen lol.
You cant not have Harlan co. in there. There not just a top 3 team in the mountains this year but would absoloutly spank everyone in your list from 5 down. And Pulaski county literally lost everything except maybe there kicker and well, kickers dont win ball games.

Being in anyones mountain top ten rankings, preseason rankings, or predictions don't mean a hill of beans and doesn't entitle any team to a championship. It takes a team with heart, capability, work ethic, goal, and a great coaching staff that will have the team stay on course, and gel WIN it counts (playoffs). The Black Bears of Harlan County really dont care about rankings, they want to WIN each week and take the championships provided in front of them later on and as they come. One week at a time. The Black Bears mean business. GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!!

Maybe because they don't have mountains.
WYMT does a great job but just because they broadcast in Somerset doesn't make Somerset part of the mountains.

Yes, Pulaski County lost a lot but, I don't think very many people realize how many young players the Maroons have to take the place of those that graduated. The Maroons are a legitamate 4 IMO behind Bell Co, Harlan Co, Johnson Central.

I dont see it. At all.
Obviously those four teams are better than PC, but you cant tell me there arent 6 other teams in the mountains that cant beat PC. They wont even win there district most likely.
They simply lost way to much and i very seriously doubt there new players are any where close to as good as the past few years teams PC has had.

#1 Bell County - Even with Wayne Mills, they ramian ontop untill proven otherwise
#2 Harlan County - Very strong performance last post season , with a legand coach coming back
#3 Johnson Central - First team All state running back makes it easy to root for the Golden eagles, Coach matney is in a loaded region.
#4 Sheldon Clark - Back are leading tacklers Taylor Chapman and BJ Jerrell, along with 1300 yard rusher KP Skyles. When you account for the addition of Tim Smith (2000 yard rusher) and Zack Norman, who had 10 TD's last year, The Cards return so much talent. Tyler O'conner is a wild card who is also a tough matchup.
#5 P-burg - Jamerson, Adam Crisp, and Bryson Williams return for an encore season, as Pburg has as much top heavy talent as anyone. Look for the Blackcats to contend for a regional title.
#6 Belfry - Willis is as good as anyone at FB position in the state, but the pirates have QB issues, and have got to find someone to replace Pruitt on the sweeps and toss plays. Belfry will still be very good this season.
#7 Pike Central - Coach Chapman has the personel to match up with anyone, Boggs returns as the Stat leader in offensive production in KY, Pugh is a great deep threat, and the defense is solid
#8 Somerset - Storm Wilson lol ...enough Said.
#9 Perry County Central - Huff is a monster, and when you combine his 29 tds with the ability of Rankin, and now Hollan at MLB , The Dors will be very tough, and have a chance to compete in region 4.
#10 Hazard - The Bulldoggs have a top ten program as well as coach, but they have to find a run game ,and more speed on D to compete for a single A state title!

I know some of you will disagree with the #1 but just because Bell has had alot of recent sucess, that does'nt mean they're the best. The NCAA's Preseason top 25 doesnt always have Notre Dame and Michigan at one and two because of there past sucess.
