Just read on another site that Bracken County has hired former Indian Hill High School(Ohio) coach Kevin Seipel as head coach. If true, which I'm assuming it is, that's a big upgrade over anything Bracken has had down there. Former Highlands and Beechwood assistant too. Not sure I believed Bracken had the ability to lure a proven coach there.

Interesting hire for the Polarbears
Coach Siple is a good football coach and can help the situation at Bracken. It will also be a good clean start for Coach Siple

^ hmm, I spent the year on the sidelines with him! He's a good guy! I have no clue what he used to be able to do on the sidelines as a head coach! Hard pressed for me to believe in someone who showed up daily after practice started ( he doesn't work), no showed games, and said things to the kids about other coaches, whether true or not just can't do!

Do what? Am I the only one that cannot understand the point he is getting at?
It seems like Bracken at least hired a coach with some experience. Best of luck in a challenging situation.

nope... I'm lost too! I THINK he's calling Siple lazy, but I'm not certain.

Stardust, were you at Campbell County? Maybe Siple was correct in his assessment of what was going on there. Afterall, that staff did get fired.
I'm sure once he's the man in charge he will be organized and at practice on time. Heck, he'll probably be at most if not all the games. Bracken County made a good choice hiring a guy who's out of The Highlands football factory. Be happy yourself that Campbell County also finally has an old Highlands guy in charge now. Maybe you can do better than 4-6 or 5-5 every year.

^ Seipel is well known in NKY, thus the reason for the three NKY posts. He won a championship at Indian Hill and then came to Campbell County to be the heir to the job. He royally screwed that up. There's baggage. If he can find the magic that made him successful at IH, then this is an upgrade. He his baggage prompts him to repeat what he did at CCHS, then Bracken will be in the market for another coach soon!

Excuse me, the staff did NOT get fired! Never was it considered to fire the staff! The head coach resigned. If you do not know how High School sports works, the ONLY coach who is on staff is the head coach. The rest of the staff is renewed annually. When Coach Lickert was hired to replace Styer, who will likely be the principal at CCHS next year, he kept 5 of last years coaches. One coach went to Beechwood to be the QB coach, One was let go from his teaching position - thus he could not coach, and the last retired. Not sure where you got your information, but it's not accurate. That's OK, not everyone knew what really went on in Alexandria.
As for Seipel, track down the players and seek their opinion. It would be very easy to keep bias and prejudice out by going straight to the one's who either respected or didn't respect the coaches. People are not always what they used to be!
I'm not arguing with you lefty, but I can assure you that you are missing some facts.

Stardust you're right on target. There is some baggage. There's a reason he left Indian Hills, and has had a difficult time at other places. Some times you're dealt a certain hand, sometimes you take chances, but all bets are off on his past. Hopefully he will use this as a clean deck and deal with it in the right way.

That would be a great hire.

You can't even spell his name right. IT"S SIPLE.

Congrats to Kevin and all the best at Bracken Co. Kevin did a great job at Indian Hill against big time Ohio compitition and he will have the knowledge and skill to bring Bracken Co. to a very competitive level if the community gets involved and supports the school and the coach.

Off topic, but isn't the head coach's contract for only one year and it is subject to annual renewal, just like the assistant coaches?

Yes, ALL are on a year to year basis. Differance is most dont do anything more than do the paper work and nothing is even mentioned of it.

Didn't come around the field enough for anyone to know how to spell his name. Besides, I only used the spelling that your HHS brethren spelled it as - hmmm!

I guess if you're going to use a lame excuse for not spelling a person's name correctly; that's the best one a person can come up with: blame someone else.
On a serious note, I wasn't on the sidelines out in the County last year nor was I privy to the situation Siple had with the other CampbellCounty coaches and players. I haven't been around Siple in quite some time so it's possible he's changed. But from what I recall of him he was a class act and he obviously did a very, very good coaching job at IH, so you know he has it in him.
Hopefully everyone is wishing that he can improve Bracken County's football program if for no other reasons than the improvement of the sport of football at a Ky high school and for the enjoyment of the Bracken County football players.

What schools were consolidated to make this school?

I remember Siple when he was at Indian Hill and I'm good friends with some of the guys that played for him there. I've heard good things and bad things about Siple, just like any other coach. And I know Siple will be the 1st to tell you that he's not solely responsible for the success at Indian Hill. He had a great staff to work with, and good talent to go with that.
Bracken County made a good hire, but I don't see Siple turning this program into a winner unless he can bring in a good staff with him and get support from the other coaches there (basketball). These kids need to be committed to football during football season. The kids were usually focused on basketball during the season, and throwing on the lack of success the football team has had, thats why some of those kids quit towards the end of the season.

What coach from Campbell County went to Beechwood to be the QB coach?
That statement alone speaks to a credibility issue with you right away ... because the QB coach at Beechwood has been/is/will be for the long term future: Greg Hergott.
Kind of hard to take things seriously when you can't get that one right.

Keith Culp, CCHS O-Coordinator is now with Beechwood. Hergott happened to be the QB coach for Culp in the CC Red Devils. Kind of hard to take you seriously when you don't know your own facts! Check into it instead of throwing blind statements out!

It's not a new school by any means. But it is a relatively new football program.

Ummmmmm ... excuse me ... but I actually LIVE the facts.
You haven't done your homework.
1. Keith Culp is a middle school coach at Beechwood now. The varsity staff has experienced one change in the past 6 years--and that is with D-Line Coaches.
2. You are talking about the wrong Hergott.
3. Greg Hergott has been the QB coach/offensive coordinator at Beechwood since 2002. And again ... that isn't going to change any time in the near future.
4. The Hergott who played for the CC Red Devils is would be Greg's nephew.
So--the reality of the situation is that YOU DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH.
Pretty funny .... especially considering the fact that you never know who the person is behind a screen name.
It is absolutely hilarious that you would tell me that I am throwing out blind statements .. I guess I can't interpet the life that I live every single freaking day ....

I didn't know Bracken County had a football team. Good luck with the new coach.

06-17-2011, 12:25 AM
Greg's brother Kevin Hergott(Highlands 87) has been with the Red Devils for a number of years. I believe he still coaches with the Red Devils. Coach Culp is also a very good guy, knows his football, and will be missed at Campbell County or is it Camel County?

yup, played a JV schedule that year. They did pretty good, so they started playing a varsity schedule in 2004. And when you're a new program jumping into a very good district for your 1st year, things usually don't go the way you want them to
