Just wondering how many players from the mountains attended. I took my cousin Dalton Sizemore who is a freshman and just wanted to share his numbers. They didn't get to compete in the 1 on 1 drills or the position drills because of a bad thunderstorm that rolled in. I was looking forward to seeing him get to compete in those drills against other good QB's.
The results are not posted on their website yet but here is how his numbers broke down.
40 yard dash - 4.71sec
shuttle - 4.54sec
vertical - 31"
broad - 8'3"
benchpress - 135lbs 29 times
If you got results post them

The kid from North Laurel had the best shuttle at the entire combine. That is an awesome time.

If you check on the website the sizemore kid only had a 25" vert the guys running the drill had everyone 6" off.

i am assuming with all these great times, jumps, and reps that all these Kentucky boys got invited to the Ultimate 100?

Based upon some of the feedback I've gotten regarding this combine is very disappointing. I have heard from a reliable source, that in his opinion, this was by far the most poorly run combine he has ever attended. And he has attended around ten to twelve over the last few years.
The officials in some of the events didn't seem to have a handle on timing the events. For example, on the shuttle one young man was force to run it six time because they couldn't establish his time. Then this same young man had to run the forty, immediately after the shuttle reruns, four or five times so the officials could get the correct time.
The above scenario reminds me of a recount in a political election. The party in charge of the recount keeps counting until they get the result they want.
Now I have to wonder, were the officials incompetent, or were they biased, with a little home cooking involved? Obviously I don't know, just asking?
I have a feeling that this combine may have a hard time drawing football players going forward.

I heard the same thing about the one kid havig to do the shuttle six times. From what I was told the whole thing was a joke as far as those keeping times.

IMHO - Best to save your $80 and the gas it takes to get there. NUC is a slick marketing job. They sell a dream. They spam you. There is a constant drumbeat to up-sell - pricier camps, extra training, combine prep, elite this or national that -- ...the message is "if you just buy this" then you have a better chance at fame.
You can do the exact things NUC does on your own field. You need a weight bench, cones, a tape measure, and a stopwatch. If you are good or have potential - colleges will find you. I have read more than one account of poorly organized combines and/or recording the wrong stats for kids. Just my opinion.

Tica, I think you're right on! NUC is a money making endeavor. Selling the product (NUC) is certainly the objective of these camps.
I've lived life for quite a few years now, and one thing I remember that was stated to me by a very wise instructor: "Everyone has an agenda, always remember this."
And to quote another poster on this site, but maybe this is more of a paraphrase, this particular combine was a joke.

That's the dumbest statement I have read on here in a while. Why pay $80 well maybe because they give these results to teams that I don't know recruit these kids. Also these wasted money camps let kids compete against the top kids at these camps which gets them recruited. It's all about exposure. Maybe if more Kentucky kids got exposure people wouldn't assume that the quality of football is so poor. But hey what do I know. It's not like the top recruits don't go to these type of camps. Oh wait yeah they do.

I can say this for sure that this combine in Lexington was very poorly ran, but I have attended several other NUC events over the past 3 years and for the most part they have their stuff together. It is important for kids to get exposure, plus competing against kids from other schools helps the athete and the coaches get a base line where you are at. I would like to see them use electronic equipment for the timing and they should have the money to invest in these machines that is for sure, hand times can be misconstrude easily and are in the hands of a person that depending upon the click of a button could add or take away 1 to 2 tenths of a second on times or more.

If you are blessed with the talent or skills to distinguish yourself at one of these combines with a blazing 40 time or a lot of x 185 bench reps, (recruiters) are already going to know about you. And if they are seriously interested, they will invite you to their place or time you themselves, not take someone else's word for it. Personally, I would save my money and go directly to any of the various college combines and camps held in or near the state. You are cutting out the middle man. These are business ventures. They primarily promote themselves.

Well said!

I had posted the above a couple post past, but it is worth repeating, IMO.
The Shulman National Combine is, as was mentioned above, a commercial enterprise, nothing more, nothing less. With the sophistication the recruiters have at their disposal today, they are pretty well aware of the talent out there.

You all do know that colleges pay for the info from these camps. That's why they are popular. Nike, under armour, and countless other companies have these combines that they sell the results to colleges for. I might be crazy but I don't think if you go to a WKU or UK camp they're going to give the info to anybody if they think you can play on that level. And to respond to your agenda post. Yeah they have an agenda to stay in business. You know the same reason everyone else charges for things. And $80 isn't a bad price to have all of your info put into a national database for all colleges to look at.

Why pay for information that is readily available through the players respective coaches and high school game films. In response to your all information into a national data base , that would be great if it were accurate, but very damaging if inaccurate. I think the problem is these combines are very bias and unfair, because you may have a great athelete that can run fast, jump high, and can lift a ton, BUT he takes one hard hit ,and he doesn't want to play anymore. No one can evaluate HEART and TOUGHNESS through these combines.

I'd likje to make 2 separate comments.
1. If they had Bryan Station coaches working the vertical and timing kids then , yes I am sure it was poorly run. I have been to 2 previous combines of thiers that were very well run.
2. The reason to pay $80 bucks is because the colleges pay these people for thier info. One poster mentions that colleges will find you with all the info they have. Well this combine is one of the sources of info colleges pay for.

It's a free country - run with the lemmings - you can go to all the 'for-profit' combines you want to - I think he has about 35 of them.

The Lexington combine was by far the poorest run football camp I've ever seen. Over five hours to do the five combine drills and the times were way off on a lot of kids. U advertise a national combine and it's run by a bunch of Craig yeast boys from Danville that are a middle school coaches at best. Would recommend going to another city next year if u are intersetred in nuc. And my son made the next round so I have no sour grapes.
