Jason King of Yahoo! Sports put together a list of the best frontcourt players in college basketball for next season, and despite only being a freshman-to-be, he ranks Anthony Davis, Jr. the #2 big man behind Jared Sullinger. Hereâs what he said about the Catsâ incoming interior force:
2. Anthony Davis, Kentucky, freshman â Some recruiting analysts believe that the 6-foot-10 Davis â and not Dukeâs Austin Rivers â is the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2011. Heâs a bit skinny at 190 pounds, but that wonât stop him from becoming a force during his one year at Kentucky.
Davis is ranked ahead of Baylorâs Perry Jones and North Carolinaâs tandem of Tyler Zeller and John Henson on the list, which also includes, for some reason, Festus Ezeli. Terrence Jones isnât listed, presumably because he hasnât announced his final NBA decision yet, and Iâm not sure exactly where heâd land in the ranking if he was included. One thing I am sure of, though, is that a frontcourt featuring Jones and Davis would be borderline unfair. Weâll find out tomorrow if itâs going to happen.
Go Cats.
Stay Terrence Jones.
