Sorry--I read wrong.
Keep in mind--there is nothing wrong with practicing technique on your own time. Also--don't just go to the weight room to lift--practice your specific movements with weights whenever possible (with the supervision of a coach).

A lot of sprints and jumping will increase take off and explosion.

yeah sprinting will help so will pulling sleds and things like that
