Why in the world would you put McCoy in there and leave the best player in the state completely out? Chane Behanan is hands down Mr. Basketball

Behanen is a Mcdonalds all american from bowling green going to louisville, #21 in the nation player.
McCoy wont be 1st team all state, 2nd team all state will be my guess. There is a world outside of Pikeville lol

Behanen and that is the only kid on the ballot, that is sad, but it's true. Very weak senior class for Kentucky this year.
02-25-2011, 11:33 AM
I wouldnt say it is too weak, there are a lot of d-1 players in this class
Stenzil, zollo, daniel from GRC
Setty from Mason County
knipp from elliott
Ryan Taylor, Price, Kimbro, harris, johnson from louisville
fucci & barksdale from tates creek
fant, shanklin, behanen from warren county
hickey from christian.. that is just off top of my head

Hobo Mccoy with name & scoring avg. deserves some votes
02-25-2011, 11:48 AM
I'd like to see Zollo get it but I'm going with Behenan-Bowling Green will win it.
02-25-2011, 12:53 PM
Pretty bad last years and this years Mr. Basketball will be going to Louisville!
02-25-2011, 01:33 PM
Chane Behanen will win Mr. Basketball if Bowling Green wins the 4th Region. Book it.

Knipp should be a definite front runner IMO.
I would guess Behanan will more than likely get it though because of all the hype that surrounds him.

Would love to see a boy from Pike County get it again. However, this award will probably go to Chane Behanen, depending on his postseason success.
02-25-2011, 04:25 PM
Lyonell Gaines after he leads Eastern to a state titile.

I think that Behanan has to be the biggest choice for the Mr. Basketball!!

With the choices being named on here, I will have to throw Nathan Martin in, due to he has been playing Allstar games with all these guys every summer since a freshmen, and got asked again this summer. Also MVP of the All A.
02-26-2011, 08:10 AM
Behanan had a better highschool career in another state IMO.

i agree with you, would be hard for me to vote for behanen not being here throughout high schoool, the best player this season was the ryan taylor kid at louisville western

To be Mr. Basketball, a player needs to be on the state scene for a couple of years. This usually includes a couple of state tournaments, not to mention some big time Kentucky tournaments throughout the year. This leaves Hobo on the outside. Martin had a big All "A" tournament but it takes more than one tournament to solidify Mr. Basketball. Expect the gentle giant from Bowling Green to be wearing the #1 jersey. He has made his splash on the national scene via big time AAU and camps.

Would love to see Knipp win it. He is, IMO, the best overall basketball player in this state. Has size, can shoot, can handle, pass, rebound, block shots. Anything and everything is Mr. Knipp's specialty. The guys being mentioned from the 15th have less than a 0% chance to win it. They're nice players, but their teams haven't been state contenders in any year they've been there. Elliott was a state contender the first three years Knipp played varsity basketball. These last two years they haven't been, but his numbers are just phenomenal.

Neither did Elisha Justice
Wait a minute he did win it
Boy from Bowling Green is at the top right now.

It is sad, but the chance of someone playing for a team that doesn't go to state, of being named to the Kentucky Lions All-Star team. is just about nil.
PS I don't like the name Anthem All Star Game.

Nathan Martin from Betsy Layne should be considered.

Agree that Behanan is leading candidate... but did not know that Justice had "no chance." I always heard him mentioned as a front runner going into his senior year...

Taylor did not impress me when he played against Warren Central. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he might have had his worst game against the Dragons, but he sure didn't look better than Behanan to me on that night.

Hobo Mccoy and Nathan Martin are good players..for the 15th region.
Hobo is better than Martin. But still neither of them has a chance at Mr. Basketball. Yea Hobo has had a great year. But Pike Central has made no state noise. By that i mean beating top teams in the state. Yea he dropped 41 in the district championship but who else do you want to score for Central?
Martin got MVP at the All "a" state Tournament. But before that how much noise did he make around the state? None that i know of. Martin Has to lead his team to a sweet 16 championship and avg. 25 ppg at rupp to be considered. And neither of those will happen.
I dont mean to bash these kids at all i just think its funny to get on here and read these names being metioned with players like Behanan, Knipp and Zollo. These players will be the top 3 choices IMO.

Are Pikeville College and the University of Louisville pretty much the same when comparing programs? The kid from Bowling Green wins Mr. Basketball hands down. Go ahead and declare him the winner.
