I have seen all this information if I could only remember where.:eyeroll: I can tell you right now that schedule did not come from the ky scoreboard.:dontthink Give the proper credit!

That is a really weak schedule. They should win 9 maybe 10 regular season games.:please:

That's what I thought. They won 11 games last year. You'd figure they would schedule up, but this one isn't even better than last year's.

I think it's the best schedule they have played in awhile. They lost alot of people folks from the regional runner up team. Lewis they played since 1970 dropped them and Boyd dropped them. I know Nate tried to schedule Russell and Lawrence but didn't work out with weeks.

Beaf the schedule up some.
02-12-2011, 12:01 PM
Schedule is just fine with 130 boys in whole school, as I previously stated.

Improve your schedule or you are going to have false hopes going into the playoffs agian this year (and this is coming from an Eagles fan).

Well let's see 3 years ago Fairview had NEVER won a road playoff game in the history of the school? In 30 years Fairview had never made it to the regional finals? Now they have won 4 playoff games in 2 years and made it to the regional finals. If you are an eagles fan you are not much of one. Like I have said before folks you can't hate all you want about this program but bottom line is it is producing. It's producing so much I heard Nate on the radio this morning talking about new bleachers, press box, and new locker rooms. Why would the board do these things if they didn't believe in the program? Schedule has nothing to do with success in the playoffs, and bottom line is many schools won't play them because they are small even more so than Raceland and teams don't wanna get beat by a school with 130 boys total. Just get tired of no respect for this program and it all boils down to people don't think much about the school locally. Well you better start because many people have started to take notice. I will be interested to see what occurs for Nate's future.

I agree with everything you said besides when you stated that schedule has nothing to do with success in the playoffs. A tough schedule will better prepare you for the tougher competition you'll see in the playoffs.

Why have they won alot of playoff games?

I am a fan; not a long term fan. I made friends in the area 2 years ago and started to follow them. I have never "hated on your program." I also never disrespected the program; I have alot of respect for it. But, I am right about a tougher schedule better prepares you for the playoffs. That is not putting the team down, it is me making suggestions on what I think will help this team "produce" even bigger things for the program. Best of luck in the coming year.

because they play the weaker regions and teams in the early rounds.

go back and read my posts, I am a supporter not a hater. Are supporters not allowed to make suggestions to improve the program even farther?

Just support the kids and the program things are going well on track for a great program every year. They are not on the caliber as a Raceland's overall program by any means but I think they are building toward a respected program.

Not bashing FV. Program is on the rise, but regular season record is overrated by lack of quality opponents. Next year is the same, Phelps, Grove city, east, west, fleming, powell...........

As I stated before I believe they tried to get a few other schools to play and it didn't work out. I don't think any winning is overrated, why should Nate or the program apologize for winning, those teams they play are much bigger schools for the most part why is it their fault East Carter and Boyd are way down (etc.) the last couple of years. You guys act like they play nobody which record wise they have beaten some teams that haven't won but why is that the teams fault? Couldn't you turn that statement around and say why don't those teams they play get better like Fairview has?
02-14-2011, 01:50 PM
Fairview has turned it around, but not everyone can get 4 to 5 new players each year. Not everyone can bring them in from Huntington.

Oh here we go again with that garbage, why Khsaa rule then eligible? Quit with that non sense because it's dumb. They have things going in right direction if I was a kid I would want to play there, especially with new facilities being installed
02-14-2011, 02:12 PM
It is the truth. Never said anything to down what has been done at FV. But you can not say that those players did not play a major role in how they did last year. I am not going to get on here and bash or argue about things. Just my thoughts and feelings. I wish the Eagles the best next year and hope they and all teams in our area have great seasons and long runs in the playoffs.
02-14-2011, 06:49 PM
If the make some tougher games early, it will help them late in the year. Thats been proven hasn't it.

This non-district schedule was combined 26 wins - 48 losses and Greenup County and West Carter both lost a bunch of Seniors, and GC, their coach. That will probably result in an incredibly successful season for the Eagles. I always hope every team in eastern Kentucky does well, and I hope the Eagles do well, too. There are kids on the Fairview team that I think of some of the greatest kids ever.
Playing teams that are down is a great way to build your self esteem, but it's false if it's not earned. When you pad your schedule, there's no sense of reality for that team, and in the playoffs, they'll play teams like Lexington Christian, who have truly earned their self-esteem. The result, blowout.
I certainly don't judge what any team does, but the difference in Raceland and Fairview is this: Raceland has ALWAYS played up to higher competition dating way back to the days of Bill Tom Ross and even further back, and Fairview doesn't.
Russell and Lawrence Co, as well as Ashland, Rowan County, Johnson Central would have all welcomed Fairview onto their schedules, and those games would be great measuring tools to find out exactly where they are as a team before the playoffs. So, my response to the initial question of the thread is this: Play at least a few games where the kids are challenged, and grow from the experience. Growth NEVER comes from success, it comes from failure. Grow the program, not the profile! Just one guys advice! Good luck, Eagles!

So what you are saying is Nate should say I'm sorry I scheduled the teams I have scheduled and should give back the wins? You are crazy man, winning breeds success, okay let's play really tough competition every single game and go 3-7 and 4-6 but that is better for us because it will help us in the playoffs? Don't think so buddy, also the score of LCA Fairview in the regional was 23-12 and that was on a late TD from LCA was a heck of game. The main difference between Raceland and other schools is they give NO ONE credit for growing their program. Fairview is now doing things right because of a good administration, good coaches, and good kids that are working hard. Like I have said before I know Nate and he tried to schedule a couple of good teams like Russell and Lawrence but it didn't work out so they play who he can get. Not many people wanna play a good solid single A team and that is what he ran into from what I was told. While I agree with you on the facts, how is it their fault those teams aren't very good. I'm pretty much done on this topic because people are going to say what they wanna say, but it's a dead horse. HAve a good day sir

West Carter- 3A
East Carter- 4A
Boyd County-4A
Lewis County-3A
Bracken-1A
Ill give you Bracken was a bad game to schedule but why is Fairview's fault those other schools are bad? They weren't always bad matter of fact West, East, and Boyd have had good runs over the past 10 years with some good wins. Boyd won district I believe 3 years ago, and West should have beaten Russell last two years very competitive games. Sure Fairview could schedule Johnson Central, Ashland, Sheldon Clark, Highlands, Lexington Catholic etc. But what will that prove get all their kids hurt so they can't compete for a district championship? One or two games against superior opponents can help I agree with you on that one and I'm sure Nate thinks Greenup being so much bigger school and Grove City out of Columbus will help them prepare for district play. While i agree with you on some points I don't feel like those apply in this situation, sorry I just think a good thing is going on in Westwood and people should take notice.
